Hearth & Home - Magnum Opus 1.75oz
Love it
Balkan style blends have quickly become my favorite among English blends. I’ve worked my way through White Knight, Blackhouse, current version of Balkan Sobranie, GLP Westminster and Abingdon. All these are very good and I’ve been rotating through these for some time. I finally decided to try Magnum Opus. Wow. There is something about this blend that instantly made me think “all day smoke.” It’s smooth, lighter yet flavorful, and what a wonderful flavor it has! Kind of reminds me of plum pudding at times, but much better (imo). It will not bite. I have a case of tongue bite right now and it still won’t bite. Just a very pleasant, smooth, unique, comforting blend that will have a top place in my rotation for good. I’ll join the chorus and say “thank you Russ!”

Excellent
Been smoking for a little over a year now. Tried WM early on and loved it at the start but lost it as I progressed through the bowl. Didn’t know how to properly smoke. Trying it again now and wow! Loving it. Definitely one I want to keep in rotation. Ever changing through the bowl.

Good first impression
Just finishing my first bowl of this. Very enjoyable. I don’t love it so much that I’m going to order another tin right away while it’s available, but I am going to work this into my rotation and see how it grows on me. Could see it becoming a favorite light English.

Hearth & Home - WhiteKnight 1.75oz
Very nice
I’ve been a pipe smoker for a year now. This is the first Balkan style blend I’ve had since my palette has started to develop. I had Blackhouse early on and did not like it. However, I’m really enjoying White Knight, so much so, that I’m going to try Blackhouse again and Balkan Saseini (and Sobranie if I can ever find it). WK has really given me a liking for balkans. Unless I find something that blows it away, I think it will have a solid place in my rotation. Very good.

Not for me
I’ve learned anything in the aromatic direction isn’t for me.

Solani - Aged Burley Flake - 656 50g
Great burley
I initially didn’t care for it, but it has quickly grown on me. I like it better than HH Burley Flake now, which was my previous favorite burley. It has a bitter chocolate note that is very enjoyable. Too bad it is hard to get!

G. L. Pease - Fillmore 2oz
Pretty good
Fillmore has a unique something I can’t put my finger on. Vinegar isn’t the right word, because it sounds terrible, but there is a note of something like that that sets it apart and makes it very enjoyable. I think it’s just the character of the reds. May have a spot in my rotation.

The Best
After smoking a tin of this, SM has become my go to blend. There are other blends I really like but wouldn’t want all the time. SM is the one I can return to and always know it will be a good enjoyable smoke. This is home base for me. So glad I finally tried it.
