Rattray's - Marlin Flake 100g
Easily Anyone's cup of tea
Speaking of cup of tea. Rather than citrus flavor Perique often tend to convey, this gives off pleasant Rooibos tea. And then when you light it, the Black Cavendish will become like spoon full of sugar on your English tea. Very Pleasant, try it. Never regret.

Savinelli - 140th Anniversary 100g
Bready, nutty!!
I have cellared this blend well over 2 years. It starts to emit smell of bakery, and mild nutty flavor. Very pleasant, fair amount of Nicotine, despite it says it contains Dark Fired Kentucky.

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Sweet
That Black Cavendish in the middle. It comes in pieces. And if you accidentally pack only those black bulls eyes in the middle. Guarantee you will have sweet tooth. Overall, if you happen to find a coin that is intact, you will know this is quite a balanced blend. Problem is, it came in shreds most of times. lol

Peterson - Irish Flake 50g
Leaning on my desk after a bowl
Nic hit is quite strong. The blend's prelighting note is quite smoky, some say burnt rubber, but for me it was quite appetizing. You might want to smoke it in open areas tho. Room note is undeniably pungent. If you like this one, move on to HH Dark Fired...

Peterson - Irish Cask 50g
Like Night train but Ribbon
I think I am content to know, crumble cake version is C&D's Night Train, Ribbon version is Irish Cask. STG knows how to make a Ribbon cut with right amount of moisture. The taste hardly changes overtime, and even tho this is not an aromatic, the virginia and Perique will leave pleasant piquancy on your palette. So full and diverse.

Mac Baren - Vanilla Flake 1.75oz
Not bad.
I am not a aromatic smoker. But when I do smoke such blend, I tend to keep corn cob handy. And Smoke English aromatic blends which tend to have latakia forward. With that being said, let's see what this flake is all about. The flake is just like any other blends in their lines. Moisture content is en pointe that you can smoke it right off the bat. It does not give any tongue bites. So that's good. also, when you dry em too much, thinking it would subdue the vanilla flavor. NO! No matter what you do this will retain its vanilla flavor. Casing is done well here. Still very subtle and not full on your face strong flavor. I visit this blend from time to time.

Captain Black - Gold 1.5oz
Tongue bites
First tobacco blend I was introduced as a beginner was this. CB Gold. An OTC over the counter blend this one in particular has a vanilla flavor. When you open the pack you will see a tightly packed, almost shag cut like ribbons of virginia. This is so wet that you have to dry it out, or smoke it in corn cob(I always smoke aromatics on trusty Missouri Meerschaum). Smoke it wet, and I guarantee you will have a chemical tongue bite which will lea e white spots on top of your tongue. I didn't buy after first pack. Moved onto vanilla Flakes.

Peterson - De Luxe Navy Rolls 50g
It is not your bulls eye
Some of my friends who loves coin cuts still grimace at the De Luxe Navy Rolls that I keep in my portable lock and lock and Jar back home. Some say it lacks flavor giving harsh spiciness of perique. Yeah better go look for bulls eye cuts that's what I always say. This blend is Perique forward and virginia second. Very fun blend to practice your smoking skill because if you don't pace it right you won't be able to appreciate bouquet that Perique gives off. Just put your pipe in your mouth and breath through your nose people. Smoke condensate in your mouth, retrohale and exhale. Magic begins.

Peterson - Elizabethan Mixture 50g
Same as Dunhill STG era blend
This was the first tobacco that I was introduced to by local tobacconist in Korea. By then I had no idea what a ribbon cut is nor Va/Per is. But immediately I knew this was my blend. I had several tin first tin I savored it for a month with aromatic blend and it got crispy dry. It was pretty sour and hot when you smoke it dry... I began to cellar it after I took a counseling and teaching from the said tobacconist. I've been cellaring for 5 years now. Just a month ago I opened it. That citrus tanginess wore off, blended into sweet aroma of Virginia. To compare with freshly open can. I can't say which is better. Freshly opened tins are great too, they are already balanced out in flavor and you can enjoy that citrus smell every time you stick your nose in. That is the power and quality of perique in the blend.

Rattray's - Hal O' The Wynd 100g
Easily one of best Vaper put there
If you are getting into pipe smoking and want to try VaPer blend. This is Virginia forward so you will get a mild not of perique. But overall it gives off a nice full balanced flavor. Ready rubbed(broken flake) quite nice moisture content.

Tampers & Tools - Czech Pipe Tool
Price, utility you name it.
that spoon can serve as a spoon for picking out dottles in the bottom or scraping chamber walls for well tobaccos that might leave awful ghosting problem later on. that metallic still part comes in handy when creating airway through the piles of tobacco in the chamber.

Tampers & Tools - Senior Pipe Reamer
That airway drill in the back tho.
. I have one of this. The reamer itself is great. But, the drill in the back end is where the magic is. You unscrew it and you'll have a small drill like utensil. You wind your small pipe cleaner along the cavity(preferably Peterson cleaner) and thoroughly clean pipe airway. It will clear out most stubborn gunk out of the way.

Tampers & Tools - 8deco Bamboo Tamper
Use it, it never obstructs air flow.
Like the title suggests, this tamper never blocks airway even when you pack the dottle down to the bottom. Always prepare one or two on the desk in case you have a company. Fair warning, for pipes that are 18-19mm wide, I'd recommend sticking with good ol' Czech made tamper.

Peter Stokkebye - PS201 Black Cavendish
Way too sweet for my liking
If you are a person who likes to swallow a spoonful of syrups, be my guest smoke this blend. This gives off a taste that never changes while you smoke it, it is that much potent and sweet. Immediately after you open up a cellaring jar, you would be welcomed by overpowering sweetness of Black Cavendish. It is one of my go to blend when I need breaking in estate pipes.

Samuel Gawith - Full Virginia Flake 50g
Please Celler this.
If you happen to buy this remarkable blend. Always buy celler tin that you put away and forget for at least 2 years. It ages like a fine wine, that hay like smell goes away leaving sweet aroma.

Cornell & Diehl - Night Train 2oz
First C&D for me
Like title suggest this was first C&D blend for me, I've smoked it in 2017 and never looked back. That nutty burley and a hint of Perique bridged by Virginia and sweet black Cavendish. Easily bread and butter for anyone. It is crumble cake btw.

Peterson - 3 P's Peterson's Perfect Plug 50g
A cake, fruit cake
I have cellered this blend not because it needed aging, but it was so sweet that I only intend to open up when I want to break in my new pipe. That is how much sugar and sweetness aside from casing this blend has. And if you don't have a jack knife? Just take apart one leaf at a time. Easy peasy double squizzy.

Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake with Perique 2oz
Good as it is
Just opened up a tin. I felt like I had a good dallop of citrusy confectionery on my nose. Taste is quite full, it is good as it already is, but like some one said down bellow, celler it for few years in a jar so that va could catch up that 18 years of aging and I think you are golden.

Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
Very easy on latakia
If you like to jump in on the English stuff but not ready to take a leap, look no further. This blend leans heavily towards Virginia in terms of tobacco contents, but you can savor Latakia and orientals that it will give you opportunity to savour it, rather than devoured by it.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Paragon Wax 1oz
Best of both worlds...
What do you mean by that? Well in the world where you don't have a buffer and best arsenal is your hand. This will be your best buddy. Work that elbow grease in.

Filters & Adaptors - Savinelli 9mm Balsa Filters (15 Count)
best filter.
If you need to use a filter, look no further. this does not obstruct air flow, nor affect blend's taste. Good for up to 5 use, maximum. Just remember to dry it out on a paper towel after each use.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Halcyon II Wax 1oz
Nuff Said
2 wipes on relatively good condition. 3wipes on a sucker. 5 wipes on most painstaking ordeal. You will love it. Returns original patina.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Obsidian Pipe Stem Oil 18ml
A drop or two on your fingertip
When you accidentally get water based solution on your vulcanite and all of a sudden sulfur comes up to the surface of the stem, you need not look far. Here is Obsidian oil. Just dab it on two drops and wipe it through. After 30 minutes of resting, wipe it down with soft microfiber cloth and it will alleviate discoloration.

Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - Pipemaster Clean and Cure 2oz
Must have
if you are having a hard time dealing with gunk in the air way near the heel of the pipe. this does the trick. after a swab with cleaners, you'll see that even the most stubborn gunks and charred airway will be cleaned easily.

Tampers & Tools - Rubber Pipe Bits (2 pack)
a bit stiff for my liking
So I like this bit. It's made of rubber(I think) and fits nicely on most bits. But on wider fish tails like Dunhills it is a bit bummer to putting on and taking off. living minor rubber marks...I recommend pulling towards tenon in that case.

Smio Satou: Urushi Renaissance
- ► Japanese lacquer really excels in gold inlays comparable to Korean lacquer which masters mother of pearls rather than gold. Interesting. I've seen Dunhill and other artisans do maki-e technique on briars. I hope to see mother-of-pearls or "najeon" as Korean would call it, lacquered onto pipe, if that's possible.
A Closer Look at Perique- ► Wonderful Article. Mind if I translate this article to Korean an post it in Korean Pipe smoking community?
