Hearth & Home - Heart of Darkness 1.75oz
The Horror, The Horror...
...That nobody's rated this blend yet. Seriously, it baffles me with how popular Hearth & Home is that nobody has wriiten a review for this. So, I might as well. Now, you'll have to take my review with a light grain of salt as I'm rather new to pipe smoking as a hobby.I'm coming off from being more of a cigar smoker though I started smoking both around 2012. I didn't get big into pipes and pipe tobacco till earlier this year. Went from about only four tins to now eighteen once my newest order arrives along with two pipes to four. My rambling about myself aside, this is a very complex and overall rich blend. I smoke it both filtered and non-filtered several times to get a proper profile for it and even still, there's something new I pick up every time so far. Overall, you'll get notes of roasted coffee beans, damp earth, aged tobacco, smoked tobacco, dried stone fruit and a lingering spice note as an after taste. A pronounced Sweetness tends to pop up now and again but mellows out in the background. I'd be remiss not to mention the room note which is very pleasant aged vanilla. I won't say this is my favorite Hearth & Home blend as I've only had Blackhouse besides this but it certainly is one I enjoy smoking for an all day blend that I'll keep in my rotation. In conclusion, if you find yourself in the Congo trying to avoid Mokele-mbembe and Kongamato or recounting tales among companions, Heart of Darkness is the blend for an atmospheric mood.
