Lighters - Kiribi Takara Brass
Wanted to like this more than
I had a Kabuto that served me without a hiccup until a rather hard fall onto concrete. I replaced it with this Takara, thinking I knew what I'd be getting, but this thing is a mess. The nozzle spins freely, seemingly of its own accord, and even when clear, with fresh flint, it takes several tries to light, if it lights at all. If you carry this daily in your pants pocket, the fake weathering will quickly wear off in the most unsightly fashion. If you intend to use it this way, I'd advise you to cut straight to the chase and remove the finish with some metal polish before beginning to carry it, so that it can begin developing a natural, persistent patina right away.
Lighters - Kiribi Kabuto Mizo Silver
Flawed, Still Excellent
Screws may need attention in the beginning, but should settle over time. Per fill, will last noticeably longer than any other lighter you've owned, yet weighs enough to make you think it's solid steel. Will make you feel like you're in one of those painted tobacco ads from the 50s. Operates easily with one hand, unless you are left-handed.
