Seattle Pipe Club - Vashon Island 1.75oz
Very Nice!!!
How convenient!!! The Seattle Pipe Club is practically my next door neighbor! So, I decided to give this one a try. Popping the tin, I got a caramel and vanilla SMACK! And although the topping is pretty strong, it's not nasty. If the topping were any stronger, I'd say "No Thanks", so I feel that this blend takes it right to the limit, but also keeps it well within check. That being said, the casing is pretty dominate. However, I immediately liked the aroma. For as strong as the casing is in the tin note, the tobacco is of a good moisture and was ready to pack and light. The blend took right away to the first light, and stays lit with no trouble. After tamping, I did my true light and didn't have to light again, finishing the bowl. The room note is amazing, and the taste is very pleasant. I like that the tobacco taste is not killed by the casing, but like I said before, this is definitely an aromatic... No question there. I loved the entire bowl and really enjoyed my first taste of this tobacco. Since then, I have purchased this several more times and have stocked up on it because it is truly a very nice smoke. This has become one of my faves and if you enjoy aromatics, I think you should give this one a shot. If you don't like it, send me your unused tin!!!

Ok... so I like a number of Aromatics, BUT! This is very VERY strongly cased in maple to the extent that there is NO resemblance of tobacco left. The maple is so strong that you will smell it outside of a bag as you walk by 10 feet away (ok... maybe 5 feet away). I really though I'd like this stuff since I like many Aro's, but nope. C.R.A.P. (Can't Reload A Pipe) with this stuff.

I like Aromatics but this blend doesn't do much for me. The room note is decent, but there is little to taste. It strikes me as watered down tobacco and watered down casing. I grade it a C-.

I'm not going to tell you that I taste BBQ or Brown Sugar (because I don't). What I WILL tell you is that this is, by far, one of the very BEST tobaccos I've EVER put in my pipe. It is sweet, but maintains the freshness that you get from the "tin" note, and does so from beginning to end. I've tried other VaPers, and don't really care for them, but this is amazing stuff. You will definitely get that pepper-like sensation from the Perique, but that seems to become more subdued once the blend has had a few exposures to air due to opening the bag. The grassy or hay type of smell is very fresh and is like laying down in a field of golden grass on a sunny day. The freshness of the Virginias in this blend are wonderful and are a "young" type, rather than an aged or "darker" variety. I break up the coins so that I get everything blended rather than have a sudden burst of Cavandish, since this coin cut puts the Cavandish smack dab in the middle. The moisture of the coins are perfect. It is rare to find a tobacco that is so well balanced and blended, but this is one that stands out WAY above the majority. Do yourself a flavor and order some!
