Cornell & Diehl - Sun Bear Black Locust 2oz
Damn this is good!!
Glad I was able to pick up 9 tins of this!! Would have gotten the 15 but you know… wife. Lol. The tin note reminds me of a honey bun. Sweetness, honey, bread like. The flavor last the entire bowl. Glad I set my alarm clock to pick these up!!
Cornell & Diehl - Afternoon Delight 2oz
Pleasantly surprised. Tin is from June 2017. Sweet maple with a hint of smoke. Sweetness from the Va while the dark fired and Latakia help cool the smoke and provide depth and character to the blend. Not much of one for aromatics but this is one I like.
Cornell & Diehl - Eight State Burley 2oz
I don’t like burley, but this… wow!
I was hesitant to purchase this but glad I did. Tin note is amazing, hints of Cocoa, nuts and figs. The taste is great too, sweetness from the black cavendish and Virginia, the burley is there but not overpowering the mix. Really surprised by this one!
G. L. Pease - Penny Farthing 2oz
Rich and tasty
A great VaPer! Rich deep flavor with a nice amount of sweetness. Complexity is enhanced from what I’m guessing is a pinch of dark fired, as it doesn’t overpower the blend at all. 2nd half of the bowl is where the blend really starts to show itself. Picking up a lot more for the cellar as this one will most definitely improve with age!
Peterson - De Luxe Navy Rolls 50g
Best VaPer around!
Best desert VaPer available on the market! Sweet with overtones of honey and just a little hint of spice. Rich Virginia’s play nicely in the mix. My favorite!
Lighters - Peterson Silver Stripe Pipe Lighter
Simplicity at its finest!
A great lighter with a huge butane tank, as it doesn’t have built in pipe tools, which I prefer. Works great outdoors but it’s no zippo so don’t expect it to work flawlessly in moderate or greater wind conditions. Elegant in design and garners complements frequently.
Esoterica - Dunbar 2oz
Is it really worth it??
YES!! I was skeptical about it seeing how due to its scarcity it’s hyped up, but wow! It truly didn’t disappoint. Now granted, I stashed a tin away and forgot about it for 6 years, but with some age, those Virginia tobaccos sing, sweet in the best possible way, the perique adds depth and flavor. Truly a remarkable smoking experience.
Peterson - Royal Yacht 50g
The sugar plum fairy of tobaccos
Tin note hits you with that “secret topping” right away. I also detect a faint buttery essence as well, like in a good Chardonnay. Sweetness and the plum flavoring come through easily making this a great summer tobacco!
Cornell & Diehl - Pirate Kake 16oz
Not the Latakia bomb I was expecting.
This is actually a very well rounded blend. Although extremely high in Latakia, it’s flavor is quite well rounded and delicious. Tin note if a face full of campfire and creosote, and love it! Definitely INE for the cooler months, as I can’t imagine smoking this on a hot summers day.
Samuel Gawith - Navy Flake 50g
A complex Navy Flake
Rich in flavor! This navy flake is unique in that it adds Latakia. At first was skeptical but after trying it with just over 2 years of age, the Latakia isn’t over powering and adds a nice contrast to the otherwise sweetness and rum flavors associated with most Navy flakes. Definitely worth trying.
Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East Flake 2oz
Full bodied and then some!
Like arriving into old Constantinople on the Orient express, your rail car full of deep rich orient tabaco with warm Smokey Latakia wafting through the air. A distant far off land beckons, perhaps, the star of the east?
G. L. Pease - Gaslight 8oz
An amazing English, full bodied, no nic hit or tongue bite, the plug isn’t too hard to cut through. A great smoke on those cold nights!
G. L. Pease - Quiet Nights 8oz
Who needs penzance?!
A wonderful deep contemplative blend on those cold snowy nights. Rich and full bodied, probably the richest blend I’ve had thus far!
Cleaners & Cleaning Supplies - White Elephant Tapered Pipe Cleaners (100 Pack)
Best pipe cleaner around
No shedding, tapped to fit all stems, wire is strong and doesn’t bind up in a sticky spot. Will pick up more for sure.
Lighters - Corona Lighter Flints (5 pack)
Works perfectly, no issues. What else is there to say!
Bengal Slices - Bengal Slices 1.75oz
A great cross-over blend
A good introduction to Latakia if you’re not a fan of that leaf. Easy to prepare, great tin note and aroma. One of the blends that taste like it smells.
Cornell & Diehl - Carolina Red Flake 2oz
Please bring it back!!
Title of review says it all!! Rich and complex, sweet and full bodied with a lovely creaminess to it!
Dan Tobacco - Hamborger Veermaster 250g
A sweet surprise
Surprisingly sweet Virginia, full body, creamy and yummy! Waiting for it to be restocked so I can purchase several more bags, it can only get better with age!
Captain Earle's - Honor Blend 2oz
It’s ok, maybe better with age?
Tin note not what I was expecting. It has a very earthy and fullness to it, no sweetness or the plum/ fig/ raisin normally associated with a VaPer blend. I didn’t notice any nic hit and to me the blend was fairly mild. Orientals are noticeable more in the 2nd half of the bowl. Hopefully will improve with some age.
Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
Perfect all day smoke!
Purchased because it was on sale, but man I should have bought more, and will be for sure! Orientals are definitely the star of the show with some Virginia sweetness in the back ground with just the slightest hint of Latakia. The tin note is amazing, so much so even my wife liked it. Smokes well, doesn’t bite and moisture was perfect out of the tin.
CAO - Eileen's Dream 50g
A wonderful aromatic
A great aromatic that isn’t gloopy and doesn’t bite. Great flavor and room note.
Peterson - Elizabethan Mixture 50g
An ok VaPer
Never having had the dunhill version but from what everyone says, it’s the same. For me, it’s an ok everyday smoke. Something to reach for when not looking to overthink what you’ve got in the pipe. With some age, maybe it will be better, but for now... it’s just ok for me
Larsen - Old Fashioned 100g
A bowl for Christmas
I picked this tin up on a whim and was just collecting dust, that is, until one Christmas Eve. My father and grandfather both enjoyed an occasional pipe, and when showing them my cellar of tobacco, we all thought we should enjoy something together. Since my grandfather enjoyed mostly aromatic tobaccos we cracked this open! I had no idea a good quality aromatic could be so enjoyable. Now every Christmas it’s become a tradition to sit together and enjoy a bowl
Samuel Gawith - Squadron Leader 50g
Something I imagine the late Prince Charles would have enjoyed.
The quintessential English I would imagine! I can picture Prince Charles climbing out of the bi-plane, walking into a pub and settling back with a pint of bitter and lighting his pipe and regaling fellow aviators with outlandish tales of bravery and fortitude! Love this blend and my only complaint... it isn’t more readily available in the USA
Samuel Gawith - Commonwealth 50g
What an amazing blend. For one boasting a 50% concentration of Latakia, I was expecting something totally different. Besides from how well the Va and Lat intermingle, there’s a savory rich and salt like essence that is like they aged the tobacco by the sea collecting flavors of the ocean!
Peterson - My Mixture 965 50g
An English for the ages
This blend is amazing. I’ve been looking for an not so Latakia forward English for some time and this hits the spot! Well rounded and able to pick up all component tobaccos but I’m enjoying the cavendish foe some added sweetness and depth! Well be getting more for sure!
Three Nuns - Three Nuns Green 1.75oz
Mostly a Straight Virginia and VaPer smoker who enjoys a good English in the wintertime, but this one is interesting. Never been much of a Kentucky fan but it’s not too overpowering and with the age on the Virginia’s, is quite enjoyable. Not a bad intro to Ky.
Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East Flake 2oz
Rich and Full
Amazing tin note on opening, deep rich notes of Orientals and Latakia. Perfect on a cold winters day!
Mac Baren - 7 Seas Royal 3.5oz
The tin that started my obsession!
Picked this tin out at a b&m years back. Was a cigar smoker at the tin but was always fascinated with trying pipes and the variety of tobaccos that were on the market. This tobacco was so different from anything I every tried with cigars. Wonderful sweet rich tones. Great room note!
A & C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Deep rich VaPer
One of my all time favorite VaPers. Rich and deep, earthly yet sweet! Just a little spice! And that’s on a fresh tin! Cracked a 5 year old tin and it only gets better with age!
Mac Baren - Navy Flake 3.5oz
Amazing Navy Blend
An amazing flake with smells of Honey, brown sugar and just a little pinch of rum. Smokes cool and full of flavor! After I finished the tin I went and bought a 1lb box! A must try!
