Cornell & Diehl - Steamworks 2oz
Delightfully Delicate
This is one of the best blends I've ever tried. I smoke a good bit of VA/Oriental blends and the Sokhoum from 2005 is very intriguing. I started pipe smoking right after McClelland closed her doors so having the opportunity to do a little time travelling from my back porch is quite an honor.
G. L. Pease - Géométrie 2oz
Barcelona and Vermont in a tin
This one took a while to get to know. Very tart and bitter like rhubarb pie (hence Vermont in the title). However it also has a flavor profile of pecans and oddly barley? As a high school Spanish teacher by trade I'm instantly traveling to Barcelona, Toledo, and Madrid due to the obvious cubist inspiration of works like that of Picasso's. Exceptional blend that once smoked enough develops into a malty flavor that reminds me of an old fashioned root beer. Definitely a tobacco that is for someone to delve into and explore it's complexity and nuance. Highly recommend!
Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #2 2oz
8 State Burley Fix
Unfortunately when 8 State Burley was released I only bought two tins and was quickly found in short supply due to the delightful notes of baker's dark chocolate that blend has. I decided to do some research and this one seemed to be the closest I would find. And wow does this blend have the fix! Definitely a hidden gem of a smoke!
Paladin - Black Cherry 1.5oz
This is the standard:
Excellent mechanics! Smoked beautifully in a small devil anse cob I keep for aromatics. Most flavor I have ever gotten out of an aromatic blend. Can't recommend it enough!
