Cornell & Diehl - Mississippi Mud 2oz
Muddy, chunky, beautiful
When I ordered this, I was pretty excited. When I first started smoking a pipe, I wasnt the biggest perique fan. As my tastes have evolved, I have enjoyed it much more. This blend is latakia, perique amd unflavored black cav. The tin note is hard to describe. It has this inviting, "dark" scent. Its like you are inhaling the essence of darkness. Weird, but thats the best way I can describe it. When you light it up, the flavor is beautiful. It reminds me of a deep rich brownie in tobacco form. No flavor except rich, dark tobacco. Nice white clouds on exhale. The perique makes the back of my throat buzz a bit and to be honest, its wonderful. I highly reccomend this blend if you are on the fence. I am excited to see how this does with some age on it.

Samuel Gawith - Skiff Mixture 50g
Best Balkan I've Had.
I thought that H&H Whiteknight was the greatest, Balkan I had experienced. Perfect moisture. Perfect sourness from the orientals to balance out the latakia. Then I bought this on a whim when it came back in stock. Beautiful. Just beautiful. Mellow. Fragrant. Perfect sourness. It just 'hugs' you. Unreal. First 'Lakeland' I have tried. I'm ready to stock up on this.

Sutliff - 504C Aromatic English
Close enough
To me, this blend closely mirrors Frog Morton. Now, some may not agree with this, but there are several things that need to be considered. 1. This, as with many Sutliff selections needs a good amount of drying. I let this sit out over night with the lid off and the moisture level went from sticky to perfect. 2. This is a light crossover blend. If you are looking for a Lat Bomb, this doesnt fit the bill. HOWEVER, once it has had a chance to dry out a bit and relax in your cellar, this is a truly remarkable smoke. Very mellow, has that easy, cloudlike mouthfeel and smooth exhale and retrohale that FMC had. You cannot beat it for the price. Again, let it dry out a bit and cellar for a month, and you are good to go.

This isn't a turd bird
Easily, easily, EASILY one of the best tobaccos I have had the pleasure of smoking. This is the first tru shag cut that I have had, and it was a great experience. The flavor and aroma of this tobacco is phenomenal. Lights and burns to a perfect fine ash. Flavor is deep, conplex, but nowhere close to overbearing. I will be buying more of this. For me, I would take this over half of the English and more pronounced blends in my cellar. Highly reccomend.

Ashton - Artisan's Blend 50g
Stick This In Your Pipe & Smoke It
I wish I could give this 6 stars. Unbelievably smooth and enjoyable. I have tried so many blends since taking up this hobby and can honestly say this so far is my favorite. Perfect moisture level, even burn to white ash. I have to say that I really gave this a try originally because I wanted to experience Syrian latakia. Sadly, I believe this now contains Cyprian (not bad, just disappointed!). I will say also that this is the most balanced English I have smoked. The latakia doesnt punch you in the face, and something about this blend just works so well. 'Accidentally' inhaled a puff (or two...) and it had no adverse effect. It literally felt like I was just taking air in. It gave the taste and experience of this tobacco even more of a different dimension. I will actually be stocking up on this. If you havent yet, treat yoself' to a tin of this. Mustache note was delightfully smooth and just smokey enough.

Cornell & Diehl - Snug Harbor
Snug as a Bug
I just received this today, and let me tell you, when I opened my mailbox I could smell this just marinating in there. It wasnt as strong as most English blends, but it was just, hm, inviting. I couldnt wait to open the package. Gravity filled a cob with this and from the false light, I knew this was going to be great. Lit her back up and it was just a beaut. A real beaut Clark. Burned to a fine ash, and literally wasnt even dottle left in the bowl. Burned fairly cool and only required 2 relights, not by fault of the smoke, but of the smoker who was preparing dinner. Mustache smell was smoky. Which was surprising as the Latakia wasnt super pungent or pronounced in this blend. Can't wait to try it again after it has mellowed for a few months. Do yourself a favor and greenlight this one!

Missouri Meerschaum - Great Dane 1.5oz
Cherry Cordial Puff
After reading the ecstatic reviews on this, and wanting to give a cherry blend a shot, I purchased a pouch of this. First, I will say that the bag note is that non-descript black cav/burley/virginia (insert casing of choice here) scent. Gravity filled a MM Hardwood and let er' rip. False light was quick and the cherry actually remained lit a bit. Second light got the juices flowing. And when I say juices, think marschino cherry. The taste was borderline for me in the beginning. Halfway through the bowl it was much more smooth and had a more authentic maraschino taste. I will say, I agree that this is one helluva' mellow smoke. Beautiful white, fluffy puffs of smoke, and the draw is nice and cool. Retrohale was so-so, but I really ended up enjoying this smoke when I used the 'breathing method' and slowly let the smoke roll out of my mouth. Tasted like cherry cordial ice cream. Mustache note is fine, but it smells a bit like I rubbed a cherry scented car air freshner on it. Neither great nor gross. I am interested to experience the other two offerings from MM.

Sutliff - Pumpkin Spice
When theres frost on the pumpkin...
Honestly, wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but I figured it was worth the gimmick try with Fall upon us. The outside of the bag had a very pleasant spiced smell. Though, the inside bag note was indiscernable and a but confusing. Packed a 1/4 bowl and was pleasantly surprised. Had a few relights (my mistake...should have let it dry for a few before lighting), but overall, enjoyable. Smoked pretty cool and the room note made me feel like I should be wearing a flannel shirt. Mustache note post smoke was nice. A hint of spice and clove. If youre on the fence with it, try an ounce. Thumbs up from me.

Dunhill - Early Morning Pipe
Good, with a caveat.
After all of the hooplah over this blend, I decided to give it a go. Bought it in bulk, and at first was not overly impressed. Jarred it and let it sit for about 2 months. Tried it again and could taste a significant difference. It had mellowed considerably in that short time frame and I could see how it would be a nice morning smoke with a cup of coffee. I enjoy it generally in the evening when I am decompressing from the day. Overall I would reccomend giving it a go with at least an ounce. When you receive it, try it once fresh and then jar it.

Sutliff - Christmas Spice
Give me a glass of high octane Nog with this.
I love it. Bought 4 ozs. as I thought that if I liked it, I could cellar some for a few months before the holidays. The first bowl I smoked, I was smitten. Light, airy, just tastes like and reminds me of Christmas. It should be noted that this isnt an overbearing Aro. Im looking forward to smoking this indoor with a book and slippers in the cold of the Ohio winter. If Santa is smoking this on his special night, he just may put everyone on his Nice list. Mustache note is slightly spicy, with a definite splash of cinnamon. Love it. Worth a try.

Peter Stokkebye - PS41 Cube Cut
BurVir
As I stated in my review of Crooner, I love Burley. Love the bite and just the overall profile of the leaf. I also love Virginias. The bag note of this blend is just sweet and mellow. Great. As other reviewers mentioned, gravity filled and just lightly tamped. Burn was good, and the BurVir aroma was nice. Real nice. As for mustache smell, it was almost maple-y. Pleasant. If you like Va's and Burley, this is a good choice. If you arent sure about either, this is also a good choice as it wont bang you up.

Cornell & Diehl - Crooner
I love lamp.
And Burley. I have come to the conclusion that I generally just like the bite of Burley. Sippin it slow or chuggin like a freight train, I love it. When I opened the box I recieved today from smokingpipes, I was immediately greeted with a smell I couldnt put my finger on. Opened the bag and this blend just shook my hand. The Burley mixed with this deertongue was crazy. And, I had never smelled deertongue until I opened the bag. Awesome. Scooped and gravity filled a cob. Burns a bit warm, so I slow rolled it. Some think this is mellow, but for me, the burley is like a bear pawing at you, whilst also medicating your wounds with this herbal, vanilla type salve. Damn. This is going to sound as interesting as my review, but I judge tobaccy' on two grounds. 1., the taste. 2., how it smells residually in my moustache. Weird? Maybe. But this smell that sticks to you, is one of the finest things I have ever experienced. Reminds me of a cross between the old Teaberry gum, and angel farts. If you arent a fan of Burley, hold off on this. BUT, if you want to sac up and embody the soul of one of the most sweet voices of all time, and enjoy a bit of a challenge, this is it. Oh yeah, the room note is just unreal. Get at it or dont. There is no middle ground with this blend. Personally, Im sold on it.

Sutliff - Match 20
Enjoyable.
This is the tobacco that started me down the path of actually enjoying English blends. Worth a try!

Cornell & Diehl - Bob Bushman
Strange.
The bag note is a cross between coconut, and some sort of decaying matter. Hesitantly loaded the pipe with it and was semi surprised. Tasted better than it smelled, and room note was tolerable. Probably will not buy again.

Mac Baren - 7 Seas Royal
Love it.
Nice smooth and mellow smoke. When not smoking some sort of English or full flavored natural blend, this is my go to aro.

McClelland - M55 - Georgia Cream
Save your money.
Just finished a review of Sutliffs Peach Cobler. This offering by McClelland is a scosh less awful. Still really bad. The peach flavor in both is just unbelievably fake and offensive.

Sutliff - SPS-2011 Peach Cobbler
Oh boy...
Couldn't even get past the false light. Was met with this horribly synthesized 'peach' flavor. Ghosted my briar pretty bad, just from that initial light. Save your money, your palate and your pipe. Bad. Really bad.

Cornell & Diehl - Izmir Turkish
Well, I agree
As others have said, there is just something about this tobacco. Its not massively special, it just has this hook about it. The bag smell (bulk) is almost Virginia-y, the burning smell is trance inducing and the taste is just different. Different. Thats how I would acurately describe this. My rec. to you is to just give it a go. 3 thumbs up for something so basic in a world that always wants more.
