Missouri Meerschaum - Charred Hardwood Poker (6mm)
Solid Poker
My example is a fine poker. Smokes great. Fit and finish is good, and well worth the price.

Arango - Balkan Supreme
Classic style
This is my favorite English Style blend. It has everything you could want in an English style blend and is on par with old favorites no longer produced. If you want to know what those unicorns were like, try this blend.

Sutliff - Maple Shadows 8oz
You had me at Dark Fired Kentucky
The maple note it light and allows the base leaf to shine and intermingled with the maple notes in a delightful way. Autumn Evening is more maple and the Red Virginia doesn't get to share the stage the way the Dark Fired Kentucky does with Maple Shadows. I will order it next fall if it's offered again.

Sutliff - Moroccan Spice 1.5oz
Well done
Perfect moisture out of the tin. Nice tin note tobacco with hints of exotic spices. Great tobacco flavors with subtle spices accenting the smoke. Not on your face aromatics, but rather more subtle balancing the tobacco with the top notes.

Mac Baren - Royal Twist 3.5oz
Nice blend
If it was available year round. I would buy it.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - American Black Cherry
Photo and Description aren't accurate
My review from August 2018 was for Top Black or Exclusive Black Cherry. This is a different blend. It's no longer all Cavendish, and appears to be around 50/50 Cavendish/Virginia. It's a bit sweeter, and less Lakeland in flavor, less flavor overvall. Not bad, but definitely not what it used to be in my original review.

Arango - Balkan Supreme
Excellent Balkan
I smoke a fair amount of traditional English and Balkan blends and this Balkan is exceptional.

G. L. Pease - Abingdon 2oz
Well done G.L.Pease
This is a great blend. Latakia up front but not over whelming, then the Orientals take center stage, with a hint of Virginia sweetness. It has varying degrees of complexity and it stays interesting through the entire bowl.

Ashton - Artisan's Blend 50g
Wow
I was gifted a tin and what a fantastic friend to have given it to me. Nice smokey Latakia, lovely spice from the Orientals, and a kiss of Virginia. A smooth, well balanced, full English. Very impressed.

G. L. Pease - Maltese Falcon 2oz
one to keep on hand
If Old Dublin and Black Mallory had a tobacco baby it would be Maltese Falcon.

Sutliff - 504C Aromatic English
I just keep smoking it
While traveling I picked up some bulk from a brick and mortar shop with their own name on it, but I knew they were using Sutliff bulk from bags I could see behind the counter. I really enjoyed those couple ounces, and after some research determined that 504c Aromatic English was likely the blend. So, I ordered a couple of ounces from Smoking Pipes to see, and I nailed it. This blend is a nice Enlgish with some sweetness, and is more of a Scottish than an English in my opinion. Either way it's a very pleasant smoke that has a really nice room note. This gives us an opportunity to enough a full bodied smoke and those around us can enjoy the room note. Winner, winner! There is an aromatic quality, but it's not over powering, just a subtle kind of liquor sweetness to it. I keep craving it, and will likely have to get it by the pound on future orders.

Mac Baren - Vanilla Cream
Excellent European Aromatic
This is an excellent example of a European style aromatic. The vanilla is mild, and almost a liqour vanilla. You get a nice vanilla and tobacco tin note. The smoke is mild vanilla, and a nice very very mild sweetness from the Cavendish with a Virginia body. If you want a goopy sweet American desert blend try Sutliff Vanilla Custard, it will make your teeth hurt with the sweetness is has. If you want an aromatic that doesn't completely mask the tobacco this might be one for you to try.

Rattray's - Buckingham 100g
originally Peterson's Gold
This is Peterson's Gold before Peterson's changed blenders. Nice nutty flavor with very minor vanilla undertone. Nice aromatic that is not heavy, sticky, or goopy. I prefer this to the newer version Peterson's Gold

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Flake
Classic Dark Flake
A lovely dark flame. Classic Lakeland tobacco. Deep earthy tobacco with a very mild floral rose essence on the back end. Nice room note and one that those around you can enjoy. If you aren't a fan of dark fired leaf this one might be too much for you, but if you like dark leaf this is a great blend.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Dark Flake Aromatic
Lovely Lakeland Dark Flake
This is an very nice flake. Typically wet, but air drys quickly. Took about 30 minutes to get it to the level I like to smoke. Rubs out nicely. The aroma is great it has a licorice, tonquin, dark, and earthy typical for this style of Gawith flake. The smoke is very flavorful, I pick up the licorice, Lakeland floral that is not too strong, a hint of tonquin. Very nice complexity. For me the flavors build up slightly from start to finish. If you like dark fired flake, give this one a try.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - American Black Cherry
Quality baccy
My wife likes the room note of cherry aromatics, but many of them fall short of enjoyable for me smoking them. I was a bit wet when opened. The note is not the typical sweet cherry many cherry blends contain. A dark earthy more natural cherry note. I let it air dry for about 40 minutes. The char light took longer than average for me, but the smoking light was great and surprise, only one relight because I left my pipe to sit for several minutes too long to feed my cats and dogs. The flavors I noticed in this are a natural cherry with a creamy, yet mild, cherry floral essence. Very enjoyable. No issue with this one burning hot or tongue bite for me. I really enjoy this blend for a more natural cherry blend. If your looking for sweet, goopy, over the top, synthetic cherry flavors, this is not the blend for you,

Rattray's - Summer 2018
Another fine Aromatic from Rattray's
A new and interesting aromatic. The tin note is interesting. Similar to Exotic Orange for a second, but then you get more lemon, and ginger, with undertones of vanilla. I must have snorted it a couple dozen times to try and get all the nuances of the aroma. Very interesting, and inviting. The char light was similar to exotic orange as was the initial room note according my wife, Michele. Once lit the taste quickly changes to a natural lemon or lemon grass, a touch of hay, and noticable ginger with a touch of spice. The vanilla is really hidden but gives a very mild creaminess. Michele says the smoking room note is like a ginger spiced exotic orange and gets the seal of approval as a crowd pleasure for those around you.

Peterson - Irish Dew 40g
Nice surprise
If you know you like Virginia blends then give this one a try. Nice grassy hay note, with a touch of nutiness , and a slight spice on the back end. I smoke Virgina blends and/or VaPer daily. I was greeted with a nice Virginia smoke that I really enjoy. If you are looking for a typical aromatic this is not it. If you have the taste for Virginia you can appreciate this one.

Peter Stokkebye - PS9F French Vanilla
kinda vanilla
The tin/bag note is pleasant, and has a mild vanilla. The vanilla is there in the smoke but doesn't over power the tobacco. Room note is mild. If you are looking for a vanilla that is mild this a good one to try.

Lane Limited - Black Raspberry
Taste as good as the tin note
I find that a number of aromatics smell great in the tin/bag, but fail to taste as well when smoked. This tobacco tastes as nice as the note in the tin/bag. My wife loves the room note. No bite for me with this one. I may use some to make my own Hobbits Weed blend. Wish me luck. LOL

A & C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Lovely coin
I am a fan of flake tobacco, and this is a nicely balanced VaPer flake. Fold and stuff gives a great smoke.

Peter Stokkebye - PS3 Cherry
Great cherry tobacco
Nice cherry blend. Doesn't have the synthetic over done flavor many cherry aromatics have. You get the cherry and a good tobacco flavor profile. This is my favorite cherry tobacco, and my wife like the room note.

Rattray's - Old Gowrie 100g
Foundation of the rotation
Great tobacco. Smooth, burns well. Very good reason this blend has stood the test of time. Order some.

Peter Stokkebye - PS402 Luxury Twist Flake
Luxury tobacco with a twist.
Very smooth, mildly sweet, and no noticeable topping. Rubs out nicely, and burns well. Sorry, I've wasted too much time in not ordering this sooner. This one will be a permanent member of my rotation. Wife say the room note is pleasent.

Peterson - Old Dublin 50g
Nice English blend
A good all around English, burns well, has good flavor, and nice room note. I like the slight spice or peppery smoke it has.

Peterson - Luxury Blend 50g
Pleasant Aromatic
My wife got me a tin for Christmas. I find it smokes well, and has a good flavor. My wife says it has a pleasant room note. She is not shy about room note opinions. I will keep some in my stash, add it to my regular rotation.

Cornell & Diehl - Strathspey 2oz
Nice Scottish blend
This is a cool easy smoking blend. The is a nice smokey peat note, and goes great with Scotch or Irish Whiskey.
