Mac Baren - Dark Twist 3.5oz
Worth the teouble
I overcame the bite with smoking in meer and puffing slowly. Semi sweet complex taste and lots of fun playing with the coins.
Mac Baren - The Solent Mixture 3.5oz
For plumcake lovers
A step above plumcake in almost all senses is this. It has more latakia, more body more bite even. But I just don’t see the pricing fare... It should be in the same range.Delicious indeed but it is basically on the same level with plumcake in my opinion.
G. L. Pease - Key Largo 2oz
Don’t get fooled by the tin art
Someone else has already pointed out the cheap tin art for this blend and I totally agree with that. In contrast to that, I find this tobacco a very delightful experience of exotic flavours. It is dynamic blend that changes rather drastically throughout one bowl. As for the taste, it is exactley as it says on the tin, at least for me. But I add a little bit of an oriental aroma to that description which reminds me of an old style hooka tobacco I smoked in a middle eastern Bazaar coffee house years ago.
G. L. Pease - Triple Play 2oz
It maybe not as beautifuly pressed and cut as some English plugs, but it sure is a strong spicy tobacco. The problem I had with strong tobaccos has always been the same: I can’t taste them well enough because of that mouth feel, but triple play is very flavourful and I was able to enjoy a range of flavours from mainly developing around a rather earthy, very very “tobacco” like backbone. But surely this is one that I should smoke slowly otherwise it loses its taste and becomes a mere rush of nicotine.
Mac Baren - Virginia No. 1
Essential Virginia taste
Basic virginia taste which is not bad at all. Didn’t bite me as much as I was expected. Sweet, good aroma, mellow and creamy are the words that come to my mind.
Mac Baren - Plumcake 3.5oz
Mellow and delicious
This is a delicious tobacco with lots of fruity flavors. Very nice room note as well. Smokes a little hot if you push it, but overall is good value tobacco which I’ll buy again.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Bob's Chocolate Flake
Very pleasant smoke. This is the kind of “aromatic” I was searching for. Smooth, flavorful, satisfying, and very good aroma all together. I won’t say anything about the flavors except that it’s complex and full. Although, it is not an all day smoke for me... more of a treat, once in a while, change of pace kind of smoke.
Cornell & Diehl - Mountain Camp
Very smokey and somewhat boring because that smokey thing is the only flavour I could get out of it.
Arango - Balkan Supreme
Good! Really good.
It is good qnd I can taste all the component tobaccos in it which is a rare thing for my palate. Sweet and smokey and incense like qualities all together. Reducing one star though, for the amount of junk that was included in my sample... too much twigs and uncut leaf.
Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East
Too much for me
Too much latakia for me but I added some cube cut burley to it and it helped me like it more.
Cornell & Diehl - Haunted Bookshop
Not that impressed
A hair too harsh for me but I guess age helps it. The leaves feel young and I don’t think they’ve had enough time to meld together. It has such a great reputation though that I was expecting too much of it... which is my own fault.
Cornell & Diehl - Habana Daydream
Meaty but well balanced
Strong tastes melded together well enough that reminds me of a meaty stew( it does not taste like that, rather Feels so). Smokey, Earthy with deep tones is all I can say with words. Really enjoyable though.
Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Night
Too much spice
Not for me but maybe someone who enjoys a lot of spice in their tobacco finds this enjoyable too. I find it to be harsh on tongue and on retrohale, and ashy twoards the bottom of the bowl with a bit offensive smell both in the bag and around you when you smoke it.
Lane Limited - HGL
Mild, very mild... too mild maybe. Smells good tastes like vanilla and burns without a fuss but (and there is always a but with aromatics) it is not for me.
F & K - Lancer Slices
Simple but tasty
Similar to Sam Gawith’s winter time flake. Not overly complicated or anything like that but I get tired of it in large bowls because of that simplicity which is not the tobacco’s fault.
Cornell & Diehl - Epiphany
Very balanced and well behaved. Another one I would smoke everyday happily.
Cornell & Diehl - Cube Cut Burley
Good mixing tobacco
I mix it with Virginias sometimes and it really tastes good then. Smoking it straight is a bit of challenge for me though.
Cornell & Diehl - Big 'n' Burley
Too big for my palate although I enjoy it from time to time.
Mac Baren - Symphony
Sometimes it taseted like honey and coco which was good, but other times it felt like hot steam which is obviously not my fault!! Seriously if you smoke slowly it’s good, but I’m not good at that and it’s windy here everyday, so probably not suitable for me.
Mac Baren - Golden Extra
Everyday all day kind of smoke
I love it and it’s my daily smoke so you don’t want to read my opinions because I’m so biased in favor of this... But hell, I’ll say my opinions. It’s like enjoying a piece of dark chocolate but all of a sudden you drop it and it get’s tiny bits of dust and soil on it... If you are the type who says “hell I’m eating you baby!” Then go buy a pound of this!
Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East Gold
Sweet, mild, fragrant smoke with VAs being the main taste component. Good for relaxing on porch but lacks a punch if you are a Latakia maniac.
Cornell & Diehl - Shandygaff
It’s diffrent than other burley blends I’ve tried and that was my purpose of buying it. To experience a diffrent taste profile. A bit dissapointed though bcause of a somewhat salty taste that I didn’t like that much.
Cornell & Diehl - Izmir Turkish
Pencil shavings in a bowl!
I don’t like it straight but it is good for fooling around with your tobacco and also expanding your palate.
