Cornell & Diehl - Big 'n' Burley
I don't usually smoke Burley's, at least not as the main component, they tend to be alittle to warm on the tongue. But I bought this to use as a mixer. I had to at least try it as is to see what exactly I could or couldn't pair it with. My initial thought was add to a mellow aromatic, to add some nic-kick. But I was pleasantly surprised that I like this blend...a lot, as is. It doesn't get too hot if you don't huff and puff, and I like the taste. Kind of toasty if that makes sense...? The Nic-Hit is pretty strong but it pairs nicely on its own with a cup of coffee. I think I'll leave it as is for now. I am happy with it! Another C&D winner! Pipe: Stanwell Rhodesian Smoked fresh.
Cornell & Diehl - Byzantium
I like C&D tobacco's, usually with my half pounder usual order of Winchester I usually get a couple oz's of something different. Byzantium is really good. Not hot on the tongue, a nice hint of Latakia, and goes great with a cup of coffee or iced tea.
Cornell & Diehl - Winchester
This is a blend with a mild top note of Vanilla? Maybe? Anyway, it is not over powering, and could not be considered a true aromatic. You get hints of it through the bowl but not as a complete flavor. It tends more towards the English Blend. By the end of the bowl it is all English, I can't detect anything. It smokes cool, as long as you don't draw like a steam engine, maybe a little too strong for an all day smoke. I like it after breakfast with a cup of coffee. It's a good rotational smoke for something different.
War Horse - Green 1.75oz
What a great find!
I don't normally smoke aromatics, and I wouldn't have bought this had I known (Or paid closer attention to the description) it wasn't an English blend. Anyway, what a pleasant surprise! I got it in and decided to give it a try... what a great tobacco! Be warned, it is a bit strong, the Nicotine will make your head fuzzy if you're not used to it. Anyway, it smells great, burns cool (zero tongue bite), and tastes great to the bottom of the bowl. I usually like a bowl of "Royal Yacht" or sometimes "Nightcap", but Warhorse Green and a cup of coffee is my new favorite. (One more thing - Smokingpipes.com has the BEST customer service!
