Sutliff - Ready Rubbed Match
The best
I never smoked the original Edgeworth or the Lane reproduction, so I’m reviewing this blend on its own merits. The bag aroma is heavenly , and might be the best I’ve ever smelled. Rich chocolate and molasses. The cut is a cross between cube cut and a crumble cut. Comes quite moist and will burn very hot fresh out of the bag. The taste is full burley goodness with the toppings complementing the tobacco perfectly. If you’ve been on the hunt for a simple and satisfying all day burley blend this is it. 5/5

Peterson - Irish Dew 40g
Mild all day smoke
When I opened the pouch the aroma was lightly sweet and Virginia forward. In fact it reminded me immediately of Orlik Golden Sliced minus the bergamot - which make sense since this is produced by STG/Orlik. The cut is a ready rubbed / broken flake and the moisture content was perfect. I would be hard pressed to call this an aromatic ; there’s no noticeable whiskey , vanilla or floral notes. It’s a balanced mixture of bright & grassy Virginia with toasted burley. There’s a hint of added chocolate in the retro hale but it is rather mild. Burns a tad hot and fast so slow puffing is the key to enjoying this blend. Overall this is an unpretentiousness all day smoke made up of quality ingredients . I’ll echo some of the other reviewers - this should be offered in bulk! I do like the compact size of the 40gram pouch though , and it would make a good companion on long hikes in the mountains. 3/5

Mac Baren - Virginia No. 1 3.5oz
This blend has been in continuous production since the mid 1950s and it’s easy to see why. Long before pipe smoking became a “hobby” , blends like this were a staple among men who smoked a pipe daily. This is a sweet and creamy straight VA that’s easy on the palate. Slightly aromatic with hints of honey , dried fruits and hay. Easily repeatable all day. 4.5/5
