Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Bogie
IMMENSE
As one who gravitates to very heavy, full-bodied flavors, this tobacco is Valhalla in a briar pipe. It's extremely powerful, almost sedating in strength, with some wonderful spicy and meaty flavors. It's best enjoyed with equally imposing coffee and a great book. I do recommend cutting some ahead of time and giving it time to dry out since it is a bit damp in the roll.

Not Happy Bogey but...
Perhaps I was a bit let down since I bought it to hold me over until Happy Bogey became available. Still, it very good. It's not as strong or as flavorful but it's still potent and (as stated) has a nice meaty flavor. I prefer the twist since I travel a lot and this stays fresh much longer. I strongly recommend cutting at least a half a day before smoking. I put a cigar cutter on a table and trim off the twist for a nice, even ribbon.

Rate the Tobacco DAMMIT!
I happened to buy some without realizing what I had bought and it was one of the best tasting tobaccos I've ever had. I understand the annoyance about it's rarity (I haven't had or seen any in six years)but if found, is worth a try!

In several ways, this pipe tobacco is perfect for me. I could easily understand how it wouldn't serve others' purposes well however. I came to pipes from cigars where my preferred smokes were generally heavy, strongly flavored Nicaraguan sticks. This appeared to be the polar opposite of the bulk of pipe smokers whole appreciate mild, subtle smoke. This IS NOTHING OF THE SORT. It's a very potent, rich, thick, and sometimes floral-tasting smoke. Paired with a strong cup of coffee, it's just about perfect. It is true that it needs to be sliced and allowed to dry before smoking. I actually like this since I frequently travel so these ropes are ideal for me since they won't dry out. I usually just use my cigar cutter, laid on a table, to cut the stuff. I would give this a few hours before smoking, or simply cut what I think I'd smoke for a day and leave it in my pouch. I could easily how some could hate this stuff. For my purposes, it's just about perfect.
