Cornell & Diehl - Atlas Balkan
OK
I was expecting more from this. Broken flake cut is nice, giving a good burn, but flavor is more like cigarettes to me. Halfway through it tastes of ashes to me. I like many other balkan/english blends, but not this one. I will jar it for a while and give it another try. Update: After a month in the jar, it has improved, so, another star. 11/12. Still prefer Super Balkan.

Great strong Balkan/ English mixture. Floral, smokey from latakia good, cool burning, good strength. Terrific tobacco. Smoke slowly and savor the flavor and aroma. Even Mrs B likes the room note. Very well balanced blend.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Dark Bird's Eye
Delicious
Constantine and Kevin P. said it all. I like strong tobaccos and this has everything for me. Very rich. Occasionally, to slow down the burn rate some, I mix in a little Black or Brown Twist Sliced. Nicotine, anyone?
Cornell & Diehl - Orion's Arrow
A Star
I tried this for some variety, and the title says it all. This is a great smoke, spicy, no bite, great cut. Came a little moist, but air is everywhere. This mix, for me, balances Turkish and Perique brilliantly. Nice strength. After smoking this for a while, it is one of the best oriental mixes I've ever had.
Stanwell - Melange 50g

Very nice tin and room note, but must be smoked carefully to avoid bite. If it weren't for that, 4.5 ☆. Drew Estate Grand Central is similar.
Cult - Blood Red Moon 50g

With so many great bulk aromatics available, I can't justify paying more for a fancy tin from Lane LTD who makes fantastic aros in bulk at a lesser price. BRM is good. But... Guess I'm just cheap.
Lane Limited - LL-7
Mild
Just like that ad copy states, mild and mellow. Lane aros, for the most part, always deliver and make a good addition or base for experimentation. LL7 is refreshing, without bite, unless you're a heavy puffer. Good stuff. Great when mixed 1-1 with Dark Red.

Sweetie Pie
A delicious cool burning black cavendish. This is good for a very mild, relaxing smoke, as well as being great for blending. Smokes cool and bite free, unless you have the steam engine puffing style. Delicious cherry-caramel-vanilla note. It will bring peace among non smokers, not to mention the ladies love that room note. I usually mix a little into all my aros.
Comoy's - Cask No.1
Balance
A good medium English blend. Good quality. Easy to smoke. No bite. Despite the advertising copy, not a lat bomb. Large amounts of Latakia are not to my liking. Sometimes I like to amp up my English with some chopped GH Brown Irish X, Happy Brown Bogie, or unscented Dark Flake. Call me a mad scientist, but my blends are usually exactly what I like. Enjoy.

I have written several reviews of GH Twists, so I really can only a a delicious, strong, pure tobacco tasting rope. I am led to believe that this the same tobacco as Happy Brown Bogie (which I also enjoy) in a larger diameter twist. Try some. Not for faint of heart or timid.

Time to relax.
Dark flake is indeed a very strong, rich tasting tobacco. This is great for me. I don't detect any Lakeland essence, which made me apprehensive to try this. I cannot stand it. However, I took a chance and am very happy with my decision. If you are new smoker or used to mild blends, tread carefully. For those of us that enjoy GH twists etc, C&D burley flakes #1 and 2, Irish flake and similar, it's time to sit back and relax.
Erinmore - Erinmore Flake 50g
OK.
Good quality flakes, Medium strength for me. Fruit topping doesn't overpower, but I prefer University Flake to this.
Peterson - University Flake 50g
Nice.
Good medium strength flake. Nice topping and burn. Much better than Erinmore Flake.
Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #2 2oz
Very good.
Not as strong as #1, by a little. Good flavor. Can burn a little hot if pressed.
Ashton - Artisan's Blend 50g
Quality
Make no mistake, this is a high quality English in the Nightcap vein. It is just not my style. For those that enjoy heavier English blends, it is probably a 5.
Dunhill - Standard Mixture 50g
Great
One of my favorites. Not overly lat heavy, we'll balanced, clean taste and aroma. A great English for me.
Dunhill - London Mixture 50g
Not the same
Used to be a favorite. Maybe I got a bad tin, but burned hot, bit, and flavor was a big disappointment. Very unusual for a Dunhill blend. I might try it again in the future.
Peterson - Irish Flake 50g
Classic
I am a lover of strong flakes & twists, and IF is a classic to me. I try to keep tin purchases under $10, and this is worth as much and tastes just as good as Stirling Flake, or some of the pricier flakes.
Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #1 2oz
Ahead of #2
I Love BF#2, but this one is better. I am a burley lover, and this is one of the best burley flakes. Wish it was whole flakes, but still a good friend in my rotation. If you like Irish, Stirling, and the other strong flakes, you should like #1.

I love english mixtures, but not lat bombs. This is a well balanced blend. Smokes cool and, mixed into a latakia heavy blend, gives me exactly what I enjoy.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Bogie
Very good.
GH twists are fine tobacco in a format that can be prepared to the smokers ' preference. To me they are smooth, strong reprentations of the tobaccos of the past.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Rum Twist
Very good.
I will include in this review all of brown rope variations, fantastic flavor, whether you like fruit or maple, Rum, or only tobacco. I apply this to all GH TWISTS. They can be prepared to fit your taste, and it is certainly not "playing with your tobacco". Great quality smoke in any form you choose. Rum Twist happens to be my favorite. Slight sweetness from the rum only adds to the enjoyment. Excellent for amping up aros too.
