Cornell & Diehl - Engine #99
wet socks
stinky yet unique (unconventional latakia), if you like peated whiskies like i do, then give this a try, creamy, sweet and earthy as well, really satisfying, burns slow and cool as well
Cornell & Diehl - Pegasus
good, but...
dark, earthy and that's just about it, lacks complexity and depth, the nuttiness and sweetness are too mild for my taste. it's not a bad smoke, it's just not that good either.
Cornell & Diehl - Three Friars
very nutty
fresh and roasted nuts to peanut butter with light virginia sweetness and spicy perique, although too moist out of the bag, has no burn issues though
Samuel Gawith - Best Brown Flake 250g
similar to st. james
a grassier version of the st. james flake (earthy), also suffers from the terrible tongue bite and overly moisture packaging
Samuel Gawith - Squadron Leader 250g
classic
burns consistently, cool, dry, perfect moisture out of the bag. quiet, smooth flavors, perfect for sipping and relaxation, only downside is price and availability.
Samuel Gawith - St. James Flake 250g
terrible bite
sweet, creamy, earthy, undoubtedly tasty, but the bite is just too strong for me. overly moist out of the bag, a bit difficult to find and pricey
Arango - Balkan Supreme
a different kind of latakia
smooth, creamy, sweet, smoky, everything i look for in a good smoke. the latakia is present but not overpowering
Cornell & Diehl - Night Train 16oz
like searching for seaweed in a bushfire
spicy, sweet, creamy, seaweed, charred plywood, coffee notes at the back, perhaps it'll get better with age, but for now, i'm not overly impressed
Peter Stokkebye - PS400 Luxury Navy Flake
boring
light cream, grass and earthy flavors, too spicy for me
McClelland - 2015 Virginia-Perique Flake
bright
burns bright, smokes well, balanced, earthy and meaty, a great option for fans of virginia/perique
Cornell & Diehl - Pirate Kake 16oz
burnt brownies
tastes like salty burnt brownies, generous latakia, very robust and flavorful, a tad too spicy though and noticeable tongue bite
McClelland - 2010 - Classic Virginia
bland and boring
light, sweet, creamy, herbs and spices, barbecue smoke at the back, very long burning, too simple, lacks complexity
Kramer's - Father Dempsey
too spicy
similar to Lancer Slices with a spicy kick, gets too spicy sometimes which distracts you from the sweet virginia and aromatic latakia, it's not a bad smoke, but personally i'd rather have it without a spicy distraction
McClelland - Craftsbury: Frog Morton's Cellar 100g
so lovely
burns perfectly, well balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and latakia, light but still complex, and that whiskey aromatic doesn't hurt either. so nice that it reminds me of the first time i smoked an english blend and fell in love with it
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Dark Flake Unscented
too dark
earthy, tree bark, heavy herbs, nutty herbs at the back with a hint of citrus. similar to its lighter counterpart (brown flake) this one is darker (too dark even), heavier, very one dimensional flavor and nothing worth remembering, i'd prefer the mac barens
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Flake Unscented
not worth remembering
earthy, woodsy, herbs with a touch of cilantro. grassy cream at the back with a hint of sweetness, a good smoke but nothing worth remembering
Mac Baren - HH Vintage Syrian 16oz
good balance
a good balance of dark oaky herbs with the right amount of sweetness and latakia, not the best, but it's definitely good
Samuel Gawith - Full Virginia Flake 250g
hmmmm...
hmm... not as good as i thought it would be. earthy, herbs, nuts and cream at the back followed by smoky barbecue sauce
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Kentucky
for the nicotine junkie
earthy, smoke and herbs with lots and lots of nicotine you'll definitely feel the kick
Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
well balanced
a light and easy well balanced smoke, with just enough sweetness and perique kick
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Twist
it grows on you
initially, burning charcoal, but after a while, citrus notes and roasted nuts, burns slow too so half a bowl is more than enough for a satisfying smoke
F & K - Lancer Ready Rubbed
absolutely fantastic
earthy, aromatic old wood, smoky but with just the right amount of virginia tobacco sweetness, very beautiful finish of lightly sweet and salty roasted nuts, absolutely fantastic
Mac Baren - HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed
your grandpa's old boots
charred wood, antique cabinet, spicy herbs and your grandpa's worn out boots. really strong but with just the right amount of almond oil sweetness that makes it so satisfying, you shouldn't smoke it everyday, but when you do, it's something you'll not easily forget
Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning
herbs
a light smoke but not very clean, harsh on the mouth and throat. flavors are ok, spicy and full of herbs (ginger)
Dunhill - Nightcap
like a sweet lullabye
toasty wood, roasted nuts with a hint of cream. dark flavors but not overwhelming, with just the right amount of latakia.
Capstan - Flake Blue 1.75oz
easy smoking
a light yet still complex smoke, perfect for an everyday relaxing smoke, if only it were cheaper
Mac Baren - HH Bold Kentucky 16oz
mighty fine
don't let the ketchup notes fool you, once lit, this long burning tobacco is nothing but a fine well-blended smoke. smooth, rich and clean aromas of herbs and spices.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Dark Bird's Eye
rich and deep
rich, dark, toasted bread with hints of cream and a very long satisfying aftertaste, i absolutely love it
Cornell & Diehl - Billy Budd
wow
a tobacco version of the great american outdoors, so good, natural flavors, intense and rugged
Cornell & Diehl - Super Balkan
super
not as latakia heavy as the constellation, but better balanced, not as strong as described though, more of a medium strength
Sutliff - Z50 Black Cordial
better than the dark red
better than the lane dark red in my opinion, rich sherry coupled with sweet vanilla
Cornell & Diehl - Constellation
latakia rich
a nice, latakia rich english blend for those who like english blend with a strong kick of latakia, this will not disappoint
Sutliff - Aged Maduro Cavendish
too tame
nice vanilla aromatic cavendish, but too tame, pleasing room note though
Peter Stokkebye - PS17 English Luxury
light and pleasant
a light and pleasant smoking english blend, good for a change of pace
Newminster - No.23 Blackberry Brandy
Gone with the wind
really nice aromas out of the bag, once lit, flat and boring, good (very mild) blackberry aftertaste though.
McClelland - M96 - Fresh Apple
Light Apple
unmistakably fresh apple aroma out of the bag. when smoking though, too bland to be anything.
Sutliff - B25 Dark Chocolate
Absolutely tasteless
smells really nice out of the bag, but once you light it up, nothing.
