Padron - 3000 Maduro
Box aroma is a Woody spice aroma. This stick takes a light beautifully. First third is mild with great draw. As some will state flavor profile can vary with cut technique. I used a sharp knife for a homemade v cut into wrapper alone. A solid gray Ash, medium nicotine mid way. As the stick burns along it gets spicy-er still has woody notes.not overly complex. A good heady blend.
Cigar Accessories - Xikar Multi Cigar Tool - Black
Great for edc due to small footprint, fit and finish is top notch. Most of all very adept for even large gauges as well as rope tabak!!! 5 stars🤜🍂☄💨🦜
Esoterica - Cardiff 8oz
Any review titled as golden standard is for a reason. If you love virginias you will not find a better one without reds. It has a mild body a sweet maltyness that beats all others. A true pleasure to enjoy!
Pipe Tools & Supplies - B. J. Long Regular Pipe Cleaners (100 pack)
What all others are compared to for a reason.... they are the best hands down bar none. Sincerely GW
Pipe Tools & Supplies - Blitz Pipe Cleaners (80 pack)
To be one hundred percent honest the uniformity is lacking in tapered diameter if they were more consistent would be five stars.....
Wessex - Gold Virginia Flake 50g
A great beginning smoke for Virginia fans. Easily rubs or fold and stuff. Give it a shot
A & C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Body is light to mild
This is a blend that will be better with age if you are a Virginia fan but being a light body with little nicotine not as strong as others I prefer. I was lucky enough to receive a tin of the early two thousands A&C Petersen Horensen blend the same name but the A&C is a medium body smoke more stewed fruit note as the Virginia's have age a more earthy grass flavor show in smoke that must be sipped or a burn will occur apon your tongue. Keep in mind as with all blends the product is Harvested and the profile will change slightly from batch to batch.....
Pipe Tools & Supplies - Amber Bent Non-Filtered Stem (for Missouri Meerschaum)
Thanks SP for offering something no one else offers
Arango - Balkan Supreme
4.75 stars my highest ranked Balkan for balance
First off S-P was out for weeks and I ordered some from a tobacconist. Arrived what felt dry to the touch so I jarred immediately then cracked open about a month later and let me say I recomend this bulk blend to age/cellar for at least 3 months!!!! When opened tobacco smells very smoky what threw me off was moisture was a +2 after storing/cellaring but a -2 when opened when arrived from post office. If a blend is hot the leaves feel dryer than they will be from the cellar. Back to the blend. Moisture is almost perfect now, jar note is AWESOME camp fire smoke, this blend is not as sweet as bbbb but has WAY better smoke flavor, can burn a bit warm if a clump of bright Virginia is smoked, orientals noticed on retrohale if puffed strong. Overall great GREAT smoke that doesn’t kill the taster after 3 bowls
Balkan Sasieni - Balkan Sasieni 50g
Smoky Cyprus’s Latakia with the orientals in the background. Price point is good
Dan Tobacco - Bill Bailey's Balkan Blend 500g
Yeah it’s good
This one blend I have to age for a month or so then come back and wonder why I cut back on it! Savory sweetness good oriental butterness.....superb Oriental forward English
Solani - White and Black - 763 100g
Great packaging great tin note that for some savory reason took me to the feed store in the town I grew up. As Steven pricela said if you LIKE English blends you might like it...... if it was the last blend on earth I wouldn't say no........
Mac Baren - HH Bold Kentucky 1.75oz
Not a complex blend, 4 stars
This blend is a good quality flake with a bit of drying needed from tin. Smell of tin has a savoryness about it. Flakes were rubbed out. If smoked slow a bit of hay/grass can be tasted. When big retrohale nic can be felt with a tickle of the nose. Moderate retrohale the savory flavor can be had just not as strong as the the tin note. This would be a blend I'd have someone start with trying to detect flavors because it not so complex. In my opinion wish this had basma instead of virginias. Good blend over all for nicotine. Post decanter up date/ palate change has made this blend great let it sit on the shelf for a while and the strong sharpness fades to smooth and earthy umami that is now dedicated to its only pipe cheers and don’t let your ember go out...
McClelland - Balkan Beauty 50g
Deep rich and good incense flavour
Quality counts and this is a good blend if you like English blends on the heavy side. Note 4 stars is perfect to me anything more is just heavenly and few blends achieve 4 plus stars. Sorry to see this blend disappear
Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Happy (Brown) Bogie Unsliced
Big nic hit
If you wanna get your head spinning this here is a winner. Get a really sharp knife although strong kinda one sided!
Mac Baren - Golden Extra 3.5oz
Not my blend
I purchased an aged tin.... get a fresh tin because I couldn't taste any chocolate flavour
Dunhill - Nightcap 50g
Great dunhill ribbon cut, good moisture content from tin nicotine is moderate. With most ribbons flavours of predominant components vary due to not being pressed into a flake. Good components used at a descent price. Not my favorite deep oriental forward English but a good all around smoke!
Peterson - Balkan Mixture 50g
Milder than other Balkan blends. Good incense flavor in the retrohale try a tin today then move up to the heavy hitters!
Lighters - Kiribi Lighter Flints
Price point is Good
Best bang for your buck as well as stylish package. Kiribi good job.
Peter Heinrichs - Golden Sliced 100g
Worlds longest flake
Tin note is of slight hay more of a fresh cut grass. I noticed an ever so small amount of spice. Moisture level a bit to fresh/ damp for me. Popped the tin three or four weeks ago and I just placed in a jar. First light is smooth I would call this mild. Builds in intensity as you go, so if you like more flavor pack into a deeper pipe. After charing then true light I gather the grass note on the palate with a bit of bread. Retrohale is all grassy note and watch out to much and it will turn painfull... enjoy slowly with a medium dense pack this mild blend will remind you of summer in the front yard with the yard just mowed.
Ashton - Artisan's Blend 50g
Best nuanced English
I have tried other English blends although I keep coming back to AB because of the nuanced flavour. This smoke has a very round oily mouth feel with a mellow smoke flavour I have burned it fast with no tongue bite haven't wanted DHN after I sampled AB!!! Update this blend does not contain any Syrian Latakia base the new blend on its own merits.... old recipe 5 stars new recipe 3 stars
Peter Heinrichs - Curly Block 275g
Procure a SHARP knife
First be prepared to spend a few minutes towards making this pipe ready although fun in preparation can lead me looking to other blends to fill my pipe. I've made a thicker coin then filled a mason jar. Jar note after about two weeks from cutting coins is of a hay field. Smoke is medium bodied with hay/grass flavor and a bit of perique in the retrohale. Not as sweet as others, Not in my daily/weekly rotation, Overall descent smoke but will not restock.
Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding 2oz
c&d has better Latakia bombs, ten Russians?
Will not be the last. In my daily/weekly rotation due to full flavor of thick volumes smoke that has a buttery finish mouth feel. I wish it could be procured in 16oz blocks precut and vacuum packed for the cellar. Palate has changed and this has been dropped from the monthly rotation. If your looking for a Latakia blend buy a two ounce tin and try it out....
