How to fix lighting issues
The Kiribi is a pretty darn, good lighter. I smoke outside and my lighter has been unintentionally abused by falling on the ground more than once, but it still works! Like many others, I had issues with it not lighting consistently. I realize this is only a sample size of one, but I think the main problem is the flint retainer spring is not stiff enough. If your lighter stops lighting, but is making a spark, add another flint in behind the current partial flint. Since adopting this practice, my lighter lights on the first try nearly every time. The simple fix was a long time in coming, but once done it has completely changed my thoughts, for the better, on the Kiribi lighter. Update (9/4/24): gotta clean the jet every so often. Not sure if there is a better way, but wrap lighter body with cling wrap and then paper towel. Blast the jet with carb cleaner.

Honestly, no offense to you guys that have a sophisticated palate. I don’t and I’m not gonna wax poetic! I just know what I like and what I don’t like. If you’re new to Virginia’s, they can be a little touchy due to the heat. Like me, you’ll need to work on your cadence. Other than that it’s good stuff. Go buy some and I’m pretty sure you will enjoy it. Cheers!

Delighted
In all honesty, I tend to be leery of aromatics. Granted, that this is an English aromatic the light cherry note did worry me just a bit. The moisture content seems perfect out of the tin, but as others have noted, it was a bit hard to get going. Once it finally caught, it was good to go. As I said this was a delightful smoke. The Latakia comes through smoky smooth and the slight hint of cherry Is a delightful Accent.

1st & 2nd Impressions
Upon first cracking the tin, I was put off slightly by the aroma wafting up to greet me. After my first two bowls I was, to say the least, unimpressed. I decided to let it sit for a few weeks and come back to it. Upon revisiting Gauslight, I must say that my impressions of this blend have greatly improved. Aside from doing my part and packing my pipe better, I’m not sure what changed, but I must say, I do thoroughly enjoy Gaslight!

Easy, flavorful and downright nice in my pipe!

Peter Stokkebye - PS400 Luxury Navy Flake
Hit or miss
At times I find PS400 somewhat enjoyable. At other times i find it harsh and hot.

Peter Stokkebye - PS52 Proper English
Very Nice!
I am not a super seasoned English blend smoker. However, I find PS52 very appealing, easy to smoke and it has no tongue bite.

Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding 2oz
Engaging
As a new pipe smoker, I have been all over the board trying a multitude of different tobaccos. From reviews, I had high expectations for Plum Pudding. Initially, i was not a huge fan. Poor packing and zero drying (all on me of course) did not make for a pleasurable first experience. As I grew more competent, I came back to give PP (that sounds atrocious) another whirl. I’m so very glad I did. After improving my technique, I can honestly say that I throughly enjoy the Puddin’!!
