Captain Black - Original 1.5oz
Very glad...
I am very glad that this tobacco can still be purchased at these crazy head shops that have replaced the local tobacconist. I'm not an aro smoker normally but man, I love this stuff. When I'm driving and can't mull around over the complexities of Escudo etc, this blend rocks BIG TIME! It's easy to light, stays lit well, has some nice sweetness and some beautiful toasted croquet and barn notes down the bowl. A classic and a title well deserved. I hope they don't pull this stuff off the market because of laws or taxes or because the demographic doesn't like it anymore. We've seen some good ones disappear. Get this while you can, can all you get, then sit on the can! Good stuff!

Very nice and just right
This blend grew on me. When I first cracked the tin, I smelled a familiar scent that I haven't smelled in over 30years : pine pitch. This is the very scent that used to accompany the old Dunhill Nightcap back in the day. Imagine my surprise smelling it here after so long. For all pine pitch aroma however, the blend was not latikia forward. This disappointed me because I really wanted it to be the typical lar bomb English. Seemed rather light. Bit there was this special flavor and aroma pouring through that mixture of orientals, Virginia and condiment latikia. That flavor was irreplaceable in my cellar of tobacco. I started to reach for the PM every time I wanted an English. It was magic. Only PM afforded me that fine, mellow incense and sweet/savory flavor. An exotic flavor that I invite you to try. Just don't expect an oily lat bomb. This is a tobacco of refinement that settles on your palate the more you smoke.
Mac Baren - Burley: London Blend 3.5oz
Highly Recommended.
The day before you intend to smoke this tobacco, crack the tin and air out briefly. 2 mins at most. Replace lid and leave over night. Smoke slow and cool. You will experience one of the greatest delights a burley lover can have. The smoke is full bodied and creamy with hints of coa coa and moderate vanilla. This is not an aromatic. These notes are soft and mostly disappear by mid bowl. The taste is slightly chocolate nuttieness sweetened ever so slightly by the small amount of Virginia in this blend. Pure burley alchemy. I hope they bring it back permanently- it would very quickly become my everyday. Then again, something this beautiful should not be gotten used to!
