A little Perique and a good deal of Latakia are mixed with a touch of Irish Aromatic tobacco for an enjoyable, all day smoke- described almost accurate but to my test there is less latakika then aromatic, wich make it winner for me.TY!
This brand worth to try .Ordered all Kramer's as samples and all my pipes and myself happy within.Test very natural ,remind me a fine rubbed flake.Burns slow, smooth smoke, smoky ,not strong or light but bold.Well done to my test.
This aromatic is different from all others. It is a mild & sweet tobacco, but not overly sweet. The only other tobacco I have tried that is near to it is BCA. Great flavor, could easily be an all day smoke.
Not a huge plug fan to begin with, too much work. But this was crazy. The absolute hardest to cut plug I have ever experienced. Wow. Hence the three stars. The leaf itself is 5 Stars.
"Casing" is mentioned. I detected none. The tobacco its... Read Moreelf is nice. Deep and rich. It gets quite intense near the end of the bowl. Burns well, with a nice toothsome smoke. Burns to a silvery ash with only the smallest dottle left. Burns cool, and dry. Slightly sweet, more savory. A satisfying smoke for sure.
My tin had aged a few years after I bought it before smoking, so maybe it's my fault the plug was so hard. But, I simply couldn't cut it with a knife... just was able to shave the edges. I set it aside in a mason jar out of frustration. When I went back to it I just started breaking it apart, the wrong way so I have large leafs. Then, I just chopped up the individual leafs. I found this an enjoyable smoke as well. The large cutting lightened the blend just a tad, and at least to my palate, improved the smoke. In any case, the leaf itself, and the blend, is good. But there's a bit of prep work that I find to be an annoyance personally. Have a good sharp knife! Read Less
Disclaimer, the low rating is due to the marquee. I really expected more from Dunhill. It's not a bad tobacco - it's just bad for Dunhill. Very bland, not what I am used to with Virginia's. The strength, I didn't detect. Packs good, burns good.. real... Read Morely good. No more than lighting the bowl, it's ash. I found it to have more of a cigarette flavor and quality to it than that of a pipe tobacco. I'll let the other tins age for a few years and see if the VA gets a bit better. Perhaps in 1915 it was good, but whatever leaf they used on the batch I purchased was sub-par in the flavor department. Read Less

One of the best Burley/Virgina's! Right up there with Granger. Very mild, and flavorful. Chocolate, nutty flavors.Right from the start of the bowl to the end. Highly recommended if you are a Burley/Virginia fan.
This blend definitely benefits from a more focused and contemplative smoke. It requires attention and careful and measured puffing to enjoy the complexity of the various components, but the time spent is worth the effort. I do understand the labeling... Read More and the descriptors used so far - mild, middle-of-the-road, etc - but these labels and descriptors belie its interesting complexity. As an earlier reviewer commented, the various components are so well blended that no particular elements stands out. The hint of Orientals are in the foreground early in the puff, but moves a bit to the background halfway through the bowl as the Virginias and Perique move from the background. I noted them there from the first but only in the aftertaste. The Orientals return to the foreground near the bottom of the bowl, and - with a finish of clean, white ash - I am left eager to return the next day over my afternoon cup of coffee (light cream) or Earl Grey. Highly recommended. Read Less
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this tobacco with the description being about the deep woods, of which I have spent much time hiking, hunting, and camping. Truth be told, the deep woods would not be how I described it. My first bowl was a delight w... Read Moreith no tongue bite and perfectly dried tobacco in a hardy cut. My London briar felt cool the whole time and the scent played with me for a few moments. The smell and taste of apricots was present at first. I’m honestly not sure if that was my imagination or if it is truly meant to be there. A few moments later apple over took my scenes and a hint of cinnamon followed up the flavor. This wasn’t the high sugar content cider one buys at the store these days with half of your teeth rotted away before your glass is empty. No, this was the cider I remembered as a kid running through the pumpkin patch in fall and quenching my thirst with fresh pressed warm cider and a steaming doughnut. The first bowl of Deep Hollow brought back memories of a time I had not thought about in years. The apricot flavor never returned as I finished that bowl and there is a possibility that the beer I enjoyed a few minutes before had played a trick on me, Gonzo’s Burning Sun Redd Ale. While I have to admit that out of all the Frog Morton varieties I bought along with this I have only tried the Cellar that slowly grew on me. Between the two Deep Hollow quickly won me over. An easy smoke, delightful taste, and something I will look forward to smoking in the autumn months. Read Less
