A series of mixtures with widespread, global popularity, many of the Borkum Riff formulas have remained as smokers' steadfast favorites for decades. This, the Original blend, is rich with black Cavendish, and a mix of Virginias from Brazil, India, and Africa, all lent an extra flavoring of chocolate, prune, and fruit.

The inside information on the pouch lid says, "...consists of 50% Black Cavendish tobaccos carefully mixed with ripe Virginia. Flavor: A hint of prune and plum." There is no mention of Burley or Dark Fired Kentucky nor did I perceive any. The topping flavor is there but not overly strong. Ranges from prune or raisin to dry wine. As with other Borkum blends, I find it gets better if the opened pouch sits around for a couple of weeks. Its not goopy but rather a dry smoke and tends to burn on the hot side.
