Golden Sliced, by Peter Heinrich, is a blend of classic golden brown Piedmont and Old Belt Virginias. Natural tobacco only, this slow burning, mellow yet flavorful cut plug is a favorite with traditional flake lovers.

I've smoked Orlick's Golden flake, Samuel Gwaith's Golden Glow and Reiner's Long golden flake and Peter Heinrich's is my favorite. A substitute for Orlik, I'm convinced after trying orlik goldenden sliced prior to this they are the same product. I had thought in the past that this was slightly lighter and maybe a touch sweeter, but I'd surely fail a blind comparison test. I rubbed out equal amounts of orlik and this and cannot easily discerne one from another. If they are different products, hats off to Peter Heinrichs for pulling it off. Read Less

I agree with other reviewers - this is very similar to Orlik Golden Sliced, which should not be surprising given the name, and last time I checked they were both made in the same factory. If you compare the per ounce price of the Heinrichs 200g vs t... Read Morehe 100g Orlik, they are almost identical.
After many bowls of both, I've concluded that the Orlik has slightly more emphasis on the orange-citrus flavor, where Heinrichs has more emphasis on the bread-like flavor and is slightly sweeter. But as others have noted, I don't know if I'd be able to identify them in a blind test. Like most Va blends, you'll enjoy this more if you go slow; if you chug it, you may miss the flavor and get tongue bite. At a regular pace I've never been bit by this blend. There are richer, more complex Virginia flakes out there, but I think Heinrichs is a solid straight Virginia flake worth trying. Read Less
The most characteristic Virginana I have ever smoked, unique charming sweat wood smell, not too strong, both tin note and room note is so fantastic, also, I especially like to smell it from the rim of my pipe when it is burning.
