English/Aro Gold

Another Bob Runowski subtle wonder! Snug Harbor is the first new English/Aro I've tried in years. Totally love this blend. Its light, its delicious and packs a nice punch. This is going on my all day smoke list. You can light it and forget it. The to... Read More
pping is mildly noticeable at the start of a bowl but dwindles off to let the natural tobacco flavors take the staring role. The Burley and Oriental seem to dominate, teaming up for a consistent nutty, mild tart/sour note. That base is spiced up a notch with smokey note of Latakia, always on stage but way in the back. The perique, which is subtle, adds dark fruit and sweetness. The classic Runowski robust earthy C&D burley flavor is obvious, the topping and blending has it singing a slightly sweeter note than usual. If you're a fan of Bob's Pegasus blend, Haunted Bookshop or OJK, you will find familiar, but much lighter and sweet notes here. Highly recommend. Read Less
What a cute blend!

It's a true English mix with enough latakia. It has a very delicate flavor of liquor. Strength is medium and sufficient nicotine. A real pleasure.
Pretty Good

Snug Harbor is a fairly good, fairly average English aromatic. I am pleased to report that it is more English than aromatic, and that the latakias and orientals are not drowned out by the topping. Somewhat muted, perhaps, but not swallowed whole. It ... Read More
is pretty good, and I would smoke it again, but I like Kramer’s Cary Grant better. Read Less

This a charming mix. Mellow, has spicy notes, latakia helps out every now and then but doesn't dominate, there is a brightness and nutty note, the liquor top note just rounds things out. It is snug for sure, i would give it a shot
snug is the key word

Its snug; slight spice in between latakia, some nutty elements, Orientals adds a well rounded note. The topping solidifies the blend without adding confusion to the flavor of the blend
Hope I just got a bad batch

Bough an ounce of this more than a half a year ago. The tin note let me down then, so I just decided to let it age a bit. Today I gave it a chance. Where to begin: the tin note remained the same: something sweet and sour, almost like fermented fruit ... Read More
left in the sun to rot. As I've come across blends that smelled nasty but tasted great, I filled my pipe. Oh boy...the tin tone goes into the taste: the smell sour sweet fermented taste, and not in the orientals sour taste, no, the same rotten fruits taste again. The latakia was a bit forward and kind of harsh, I would have expected the aging to tone and mellow it down, but it did not happen. Could not detect the perique. The only good thing I can say about this is that the bottom of the bowl gave the classic medium english blend taste. I'm not hating on C&D, as my all time favorite blend is Sam's blend. I really hope this was just a bad batch I got. Bottom line is this is not an english aromatic and it really is not enjoyable. Read Less

A really good blend of burleys and Orientals, nothing overpowers the other flavors, with just a touch of sweetness

This is like Odessa with a top note. Orientals and Burley with perique, what a unique blend. For me, smoking something with perique is like eating a chinese dish with szechuan peppercorns, that tingling feeling it gives to the mouth. Too much and ... Read More
it's uncomfortable, that's how I felt about Snug Harbor. For me it was just too tingling to be enjoyable. Otherwise it's an ok blend. I'll smoke it on occasion, but it won't be in my rotation. Read Less

I just received this today, and let me tell you, when I opened my mailbox I could smell this just marinating in there. It wasnt as strong as most English blends, but it was just, hm, inviting. I couldnt wait to open the package. Gravity filled a cob ... Read More
with this and from the false light, I knew this was going to be great. Lit her back up and it was just a beaut. A real beaut Clark. Burned to a fine ash, and literally wasnt even dottle left in the bowl. Burned fairly cool and only required 2 relights, not by fault of the smoke, but of the smoker who was preparing dinner. Mustache smell was smoky. Which was surprising as the Latakia wasnt super pungent or pronounced in this blend. Can't wait to try it again after it has mellowed for a few months. Do yourself a favor and greenlight this one! Read Less

I like English blends, and I like Burley blends, so it follows that this C&D Burley-based English tickles my taste buds the right way.
Sung Harbor is a well-mannered, balanced blend with just a hint of Vanilla - and I mean just a hint. It's the... Read More
re in the tin note, and just ever so slightly in the smoke flavour.
The main players in this blend for me are Burley and Perique, with the Turkish and Latakia filling supporting roles. First light gave a not-unpleasant Burley sourness on the tongue which quickly settled down to a rounded cocoa/nutty foundation on which the other tobaccos built. The Perique pepper notes began slowly and built through the bowl, but never became harsh or overbearing. Latakia smokiness is present enough throughout to know it's in there but does not dominate. I'm not sure I detected a unique flavour from the Turkish, but I'm sure I'd miss it if it wasn't part of the blend.
Overall, Snug Harbor is a satisfying Burley based English smoke. Medium strength, and I did notice the Vitamin N kick in about 3/4 through the bowl. I sipped steadily through the smoke and the pipe stayed cool and my tongue came out unscathed. No bite here unless you really push it.
Burned to a nice white ash with a bit of dottle in the heel of my GBD Bent Billiard (common for this pipe). Aftertaste is a pleasant smoky Burley nuttiness.
Not quite an all-day smoke for me, but I'll reach for it in the afternoon or evening.
At low bulk pricing, I recommend grabbing a sample! Read Less

This tobacco tastes great and has a very good room note,if you are around others, However it can bite if your not gentle with it. Hard to stay with as an all day smoke

I am a HUGE fan of C&D Latakia and Perique blends but, was skeptical of an English Aromatic. What is that anyway? Boy was I wrong. This is a great tobacco and you must try it. It is an unbelievable smooth smoke which will make your partner swoon... Read More
with the room note. Not as much Perique as Mountain Camp but, the Turkish tobaccos are an amazing addition to the blend. Smooth, flavorful and no bite. Read Less
