ly enjoy this tobacco, although it can be difficult to keep lit because of the thickness of the cut. I find drying it on a plate for a bit before packing helps with the burn.
The tin note is reminiscent of rich, dry stone fruits and peaty smokiness. The flavor is smooth and well-rounded. Definitely a keeper for the rotation. Also great for beefing up a favorite English (like Dunhill 965 or even Nightcap) when you want some extra kick in your pipe. Read Less

This is easily one of my favorite English blends. The absence of Virginia allows the Latakia to take center stage and the Orientals are the perfect support. The Perique is flawlessly blended for the perfect amount of spice. I love it!

my canoe camping trips in the Canadian wilderness, as well as a fragrant incense taste that wouldn’t be out of place in the Hagia Sophia (when it was still a Cathedral). There is little to no sweetness. The smoke is cool with zero bite, and it’s not pungent like a cigar, yet still full bodied and strong. Nearing the bottom of the bowl, it doesn’t have this unpleasant ashy taste that the vast majority of tobacco has. Byzantium is nothing short of incredible. my Dunhill pipe and lit it up. I must say the wonderful musty aroma of Latakia filled my mouth. I loved the smoky, woodsy yet buttery and slightly sweet taste of Byzantium. This tobacco has made it to my top 5 blends. I just crave a bowl of it everyday. It has medium to strong body and burns excellent. No idea how this tobacco got so many good reviews, but this was the worst tobacco I have ever tasted, and I do like Orientals. I tried smoking it RYO and in a pipe, both methods failed miserably.

I would describe this as dark, spicy, and smooth. Full body type of taste and I got a good nicotine hit off of this, too. Rich and relaxing, probably not my everyday type of smoke, but doesn't disappoint when I want an English style blend.

This is a decent English blend. I smoked up my sample without trouble. This blend just doesn't quite stand up to some of the others C&D have to offer.
By no means is this a bad tobacco, just didn't sing for me. I had to dry it a little.

Strong, deep, earhty, smoky, full body and extremely satisfying. The lack of Virginia and orientals makes it less subtle, sweet and complex, but, on the other hand, it is more dense, rich and all I need when I crave some serious tobacco.
