Cornell & Diehl: Apricots and Cream 2oz Pipe Tobacco

Pros:
Very good room note and tastes of apricot and yogurt
Great component to smoke with latakia

Cons:
Too wet and sometimes disrupt the whole smoking experience

This black bag of oil suspended aromatic ribbon is comprised of black cavendish and regret. Its aromas are a bald lie to the senses , prompting one to think of apricot and prunes, cola , cake icing vanilla and the good old green antifreeze from the 90s.

It was sampled in a MM Missouri Pride, who had done nothing wrong but was punished anyway.

Ok. This blend is inspiring.

For example, it inspires me to build a Time Machine , and go back to three days after this blend was invented , get a job with the blender , and fire them for thier sin.

Then I’m inspired to go to the day before when they are still employed , hide in the parking lot and key thier car.

It’s berries and cream 2.0. If you were waiting for anything better than that, you may as well be waiting for GTA 6.

It’s wet - oily - look at the bag - and it sizzles and pops like bacon in the cob. Worse yet it’s the first blend of 53 sampled to make the pipe gurgle - twice - in two different cobs. It’s swamp grass and disappointment.

It was during the second (read that as final) bowl that I hit on something - the elusive “what is that flavor that I can’t describe?” question was answered :

Remember when you were a kid and you had a birthday party and when the candles were blown out you got one and planned to lick the frosting off but for some reason instead you took a bite out of the damn thing ? That’s the taste. Frosting and wax.

(To be fair - some folks like that and grow up to eat crayons. Semper Fi and thanks for your service if you suddenly feel seen.)

I couldn’t take a third bowl. I may be a machine powering through all these blends but when the sun sets each day I am but just a man , and no man should be forced to endure three bowls of this in a day. Or week. Maybe a lifetime.

I’d like to take a moment to apologize if I offended any marines with the crayon comment. Given the revolting taste of this blend I don’t even want to joke that you’d enjoy it on purpose.

Someone owes me $3.72 and an hour of my life back.

Also - I’d like to take a moment and apologize to any fans of Cult BRM. For many years I have shamed your blend as the worst tobacco commercially produced. I’m sorry. It’s the second worst. Enjoy the small victory.

I really enjoyed this C&D blend. It is a smooth flavorful tobacco. It’s a fantastic blend of apricot brandy and one of my favorites, Green River Vanilla. The room note is light, yet sweet. I'm a novice pipe smoker and like aromatics. This one is my favorite thus far. It's smooth, easy on the palette and great for new pipe smokers like myself. My wife likes the smell also - big plus!

Was a bit worried about this aromatic being too moist, and while it is a wetter leaf than most, the flavor and lingering room note on this one is immensely satisfying. It's not overwhelmingly sweet, just a hint of apricot, and a smooth vanilla tone that doesn't linger too long. Definitely need to cellar this one for a bit dryer leaf, and I'd treat this more as a special occasion smoke, but I'm very satisfied with this one and will likely always keep a jar in the house....Read More

The tin note is sweet, almost overwhelmingly sickly sweet. For those who have tried flavored dips Like peach Skoal, the scent is very similar. Taking it in more gently made the tin note more enjoyable than the deep whiffs that accompany my initial opening of other blends. I allowed the tobacco to air dry for 10-15 minutes before lighting. The sweetness was consistent, and the aroma just as advertised. I enjoyed Apricots & Cream and will likely buy and cellar some for a refreshing summer evening change of pace. Good, nothing extraordinary, but way too wet. Let it dry with whatever process you’re familiar with.

It vaguely smells of apricot when you open the tin, but the flavor come and goes throughout the bowl. There's a slight sweetness and a slight apricot in the middle 1/3 of the bowl and a little bit towards the end, but it's inconsistent. If you're looking for something fruity and creamy, try PS Peaches and Cream, that'll most likely hit the spot. This isn't isn't bad, but i won't but it again....Read More

I bought this after reading the reviews. And I can honestly say that this is a really nice tobacco with no bite. I have been looking for a long time for a tabacco that has a mild taste. This will definitely be in my rotation.
