C&D's high-tiered, dark-fired Burley from the fields of Kentucky. Rich and smoky in flavor, this condiment leaf can be smoked straight for a bold profile or used in your own mixtures to transform and lend depth to other Burley and Virginia components.
Low moisture content like most c&d blending tobaccos. This is unadulterated Kentucky dark fired, and as such it is very smoky in aroma and flavor. The aroma out of the back is of a woody smokiness that is a little spicy and very pleasant if strong... Read More. Comes in a coarse, almost ready rubbed cut. By itself it is quite strong, and only gets stronger as the bowl progresses. It takes the flame very easily but requires a few relights. Personally I don't recommend smoking straight after the first tasting bowl, as the smoky flavor will dominate your taste buds. Nicotine is pleasantly high. As a blender this is much better in my opinion. I've found a couple blends where I really enjoy the addition this brings, but be careful because a little goes a long way here, and the dark fired can quickly overpower everything after the first quarter of half bowl if u aren't careful or best case get thag bitter taste. When applied in the correct proportion it adds a wonderful wood smoky, spicy flavor and some body to your smoke. I'd like to age a large quanta of this to see how it is after a year or two. I imagine it will be incredibly good with a little age to smooth it out. Read Less
This tobacco may ought to be used in blending by most folks. If your blend just doesn't have enough oomph, add some of this. It has little bite to me(who's been smoking pipe over 40 years). It's smokey, has some hay or straw flavor, and something I ju... Read Morest can't put a handle on, may be the toasting effect of the firing.I find it quite nice in it's own way. I believe it to be one of those tobaccos one either likes or hates. It reminds me of an old tobacco I once smoked, just can't figure out which. As for aroma, I've had no comments from others yet, smells nice in the bag. Read Less

Now we all love our DFK in a blend. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I filled the MM and had a straight bowl, glad I did. Smoky sweet and delicious. Sipping slowly, the fired Burley really had a sweet toasty flavor. Push it a bit and a hint o... Read Moref Perique came through.
I like my Burley, this is Burley candy. This is not a harsh headbanging smoke that straight Perique is. This is like burnt butter, creamy sweet and satisfying. The fire brings out the natural sugars in the Burley. Outstanding tobacco. I must have more. Read Less
Opened the carton, opened the tin, loaded a bowl, lit up. Just right moisture for smoking but will likely hydrate a bit just to observe the change. Clouds of rich fat smoke with one light. A bit sharp...no bite but a definite edge. Very tasty stuff! ... Read MoreShould be a good blender too if you’re looking to add some strength and body. Stays lit well and I’m still SLOWLY puffing away on my first bowl. I suspect it could bite if pushed but it’s an easy slow smoke. Nice dark, short ribbons. Half way down, I can feel the nicotine, not unpleasant but definitely there. I had waited for quite a while for this to show up and I prefer tins as they’re more portable, hold moisture well and keep the tobacco from getting crushed and broken. I think it’s a winner. Just don’t smoke it fast. My Savinelli 616 hasn’t had anything like this since it was made...a good pipe for this tobacco. Read Less
I underestimated how strong this tobacco would be. It is able to be smoked alone and tastes very good; however, I can only smoke about 2/3 of the bowl because of its strength. It is very good in a mix and has become a common denominator in what I am ... Read Moresmoking. Read Less
