Cornell & Diehl: Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz

Product Number: 003-016-0272

From the roar of jazz music to the revel of old and new friends alike, New Orleans' speakeasies are not subtle establishments to say the least.

With colorful cocktails lining the bar and wisps of smoke dancing the dim light, these retro bars embody that daring spirit of one of the city's most iconic eras — something Cornell & Diehl sought to capture in their bold, Cellar Series take on the traditional Navy flake: Speakeasy Navy Blend.

Estimated peak: 10-15 years.

This blend was originally released in July of 2016.

Outstanding Navy Flake

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
Outstanding replacement for McClelland Navy, and more easily stays lit from first puff. Wonderful flavor. C&D will have a job on its hands filling orders now that McClelland has closed its doors forever - sigh.

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
Pretty much a VaPer with minor additions that add some complexity. I hardly detect any rum topping, mostly just in the tin note. Very well done.

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
You can wait 10-15 years if you want too, but right now this stuff is pretty good. Very interesting, complex and rich mixture. The Dark Fired Kentucky is not overpowering, but the "N" content is serious. My first and certainly not my last ... Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
I expected this to be a heavy hitting blend with a lot of spice because of the perique, dark fired, and rum content, but it's actually quite smooth and easy going. It's very flavorful and fairly complex. A little sweet and fruity, kind of earthy and ... Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
Just opened my jar from June 2017 for IPSD. Age has definitely helped. Virginia’s have calmed down a bit from what I remember. I’m tasting more of the buttery Orientals now with the Dark Fired a close second. Perique only comes out if I concentrate, ... Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
Excellent blend of Dark Fired Kentucky, Orientals, Perique, Virginia. Perhaps (for my taste) Perique is not much more prevalent, but in general, as I said, I was pleasantly surprised and would rate it 4.5 out of 5.
Surprised!

Product: Cornell & Diehl Speakeasy Navy Blend 2oz
Well, I've tried a few Navy flakes that I liked (McClelland comes to mind). But THIS was a pleasant surprise. Speakeasy gives a nod to tradition, but then takes it to a creative place that really works. Masterfully blended, the Kentucky wasn't ove... Read More
