Dobie's Four Square was originally a brand of George Dobie & Son Ltd., of Paisley, Scotland. Print ads for Four Square pipe tobaccos can be found dating as far back as the 1930s, with the defining themes being that the smoking mixtures were unadulterated and forthright. Over the generations availability has varied, and the blending of these mixtures themselves has moved first from Scotland to Denmark, and then to the USA. Even through those changes the tin art has changed little, remaining simple and straightforward, and many can still recall Four Square offerings of the past as favorites of a father or grandfather.
