Charing Cross from G. L. Pease is a traditional Balkan style blend of fine Virginia leaf, richly seasoned with smoky Cyprian Latakia, and spiced with the exquisite and exotic tobaccos of the orient. This is the one for Latakia lovers. Hints of roasted cocoa beans, orange zest, green pepper and campfires. This is the big one - fuller than Blackpoint, and a little less sweet.
Being a fan of Blue Mountain, I do enjoy a good Balkan. Perhaps more than I enjoy anything else. The addition of Virgina leaf make this appear much lighter than Blue Mountain, but make no mistake, it is every bit as good. Almost. Very smokey, and spi... Read Morecy. Looks yummy in the jar and the Tin note is like smokey BBQ but the taste of this burning reminds me of standing down wind of my end of year Hop and construction lumber burn pile.

This is one of the best English mixtures I have ever experienced The constituent tobaccos each play a part in the harmonious whole. It burns cool and relighting is average. My current favorite English blend. Recommended.
This is one of my all time favorite blends. Always satisfying with it's rich, sharp and clear flavors, but some roundness. There is nothing thin about the flavor. It's balanced but with highs and lows. You could say it's a Lat bomb but on a different... Read More day, a different pipe you could say it's oriental forward. It seems to make a statement on all flavors; sour, bitter, savory, with pops of sweetness (a trick of Mr. Pease is the little birds eye shaped snips of Virginia flake-Union Square?) and on re-lights some hint of salt and a great oriental spiciness. I happen to like or love a lot of G.L.P. blends -Quiet Nights, Abingdon, Gas Light and Key Largo (once I figured out how to make it stop biting) in the love category and might go for a month before I get around to this blend (I like a large rotation), but every time I light up a bowl of this I wonder why I waited so long. A typical English mixture. Basically a successful Latakia-forward blending. Sadly, far too faint. After lighting the pipe, all tobaccos in this blend start to deploy. Unfortunately they stop half way, making a good mixture weak and faint.
Nice bit of smokiness, mild Latikia, good cooling effect, perfect afternoon smoke.
Not strong at all, milder than BlackPoint, the flavor and strength develope as you smoke it, towards the end of the bowl.
As always, a great blend from Master Pease!... Read MoreRead Less

Charing Cross is an awesome blend that stablishes a great dialogue between those great Pease´s virginias and latakia, while orientals sing wonderful notes from the background.
