Not for the faint of heart, but for those discerning lovers of fine English Blends, Quiet Nights will become a dear friend. Although the two are not comparable in taste, Quiet Nights is in every way superior to the fabled Penzance. This tobacco is an all day everyday go to that is top quality. Cannot say enough good things about it.

kly fades into a rich sweet smoke. It’s a slow burner and seems to be bite proof. I tried breaking up a few flakes in one pipe and folding and stuffing another. It didn’t seem to matter. It’s fresh with a tin date of /3/7/19 and possibly a bit moist but regardless, it’s a thoroughly pleasurable smoke. Congrats to Mr. Pease and the folks at C&D for doing a superb job on all counts. Just after bowl number three, I put a large tin in my shopping cart. Lucky me, I had initially ordered two small tins to tide me over not knowing how good it was. It’s good anytime smoke too...could be called Quiet Times. Read Less

ote, room note, retrohale, strength, and flavor; Quite Nights is just a beautiful tobacco. I can't say enough about Mr. Pease. He is a true master that takes the craft of blending tobacco to another level, a real artist. This blend is dark and smoky with a tartness balanced on a sweet structure of dark and red Virginias, and a touch of spicyness from the addition of Perique. It hits all the marks and it’s so smooth. I have been a longtime lover of Plum Pudding. It has been my favorite for quite awhile now. This blend by G. L. Pease has got me seriously questioning whether Plum Pudding is number one or number two. Quiet Nights is a bit sharper, which I actually enjoy quiet a bit and it also has a tangyness that Plum Pudding doesn’t. For the record, the hype is on point. Just as good as Penzance in my opinion, and much easier to get, for now at least. Read Less

Genuinely, I first smoked this on a quiet night near a lake, and the flavors are so incredibly complex and robust I needed a second pipe. Burns perfectly, no bite, just rich robust flavors reminiscent of the scent of campfire and Islay Scotch.

一开罐就闻到浓烈的酸香味。整齐摆放的碎切片，从黑黄交融的色泽就能感觉到烟草的高品质。揉碎填斗点火，从第一口就能品尝到丝滑富有奶香的复杂香气。中段开始可以过鼻，酥麻感几乎每口都能体验到。尾段略暗沉，碳味稍重。总体而言香气优秀，复杂且令人愉悦，强度也算适中。唯一遗憾的是变化不大，中后段开始习惯了它的惊艳后就变得有点索然无味了。另外裁切有点小问题，宽窄差异略大。

damper side. I suggest letting it stand for around 15-20 minutes (at least this was my butter zone dry time).
First bowl had a little rough edge on the true light, but that may have been due to a new pipe that had not been broken in yet, combined with my eagerness to partake of this tobacco I had heard so much about. Preparation was fold and stuff for the first bowl, and rubbed out for the second.
Halfway through, I allowed the pipe to go out, but was welcomed to a creamy, sweet, and smoky treat upon relight. The finish was sweet, but not overpoweringly so, and had a slight tinge of citrus on the retrohale.
The second bowl was a week later after giving the blend a little time to even out in a jar. This time it was packed into a different pipe. Tin note had changed slightly, with the black currant aroma more subdued than before, but still easily discernable.
The smoke was astounding! Cool, sweet, smoky, and mellow with bursts of citrus tanginess, and a creamy retrohale with the Latakia really moving things along!
Pipes used: Peterson Red Spigot 606, Savinelli Roma Lucite 122
To those new to English blends, I would highly recommend this blend.
Pairs nicely with a stout ale, or a fine cognac! Read Less

: Virginia sweetness, Orientals, and the earthy Latakia smokiness, pinched with just a nip of Perique. This is a rich, slightly salty bouquet growing on grapevine and offering the leaf itself. A complex and smooth richness. I can’t imagine a mixture that fulfills the promise of it first taste with more fidelity than this. Lights and burns well. It doesn’t disappoint. Sip the vine and taste the gourd. You won’t be sorry. The quiet whisper of a pleasant night, full moon and light, even at half noon.

be smoking at 221b Baker Street deep in contemplation over a case. There is a bit of sweetness to this too but not enough where I would say this is a sweet tobacco. It makes smoking it a pleasure. I do get some mild tart, grassy hay Virginias in this too. No bite or harshness, retrohale tingles the nose but the extra spice and fermented bread notes are worth it. A get some coco, woody, spicy notes too. Very enjoyable. Short and pleasant after taste. Read Less

er we sent. We asked why they cannot produce Latakia as before. It is the basis for the best selling English blends. Also, if the processing is hurried up and not carefully done, the resulting product is way inferior to what we were getting in 2004-2005, like Penzance and Margate. It's a shame that the prime ingredient is no,longer available. Obviously, the reason we cannot obtain these UK produced Latakia blends is because they cannot get the real McCoy! C & D bought up the great % of all the Cyprian Latakia this year. It's just NOT the same. No SG, no Esoterica, etc. is available. It's maddening. The money is there to buy the good stuff, but who is preventing the UK factories from making the best pipe tobaccos on the planet? Read Less

. I like that it's "rich", but I wish it was rich in a flavor that's enjoyable. When the flavor is not enjoyable, "rich" is just another word for "oppressive". I like nice latakia blends, but not latakia bombs, which this blend is. In my opinion, for my personal tastes, a better tobacco for a "quiet night" would be a nice burley, or even a deep aromatic like St. Bruno Flake. Read Less

This is a great flake. The Smokey latikia flavor is unique. It’s all the perks of a English blend pressed into a sailors flake. I find it milder than the gaslight but there’s no annoying cutting and drying. Great smoke right out of the tin.

accos but truly if you have never had Quiet Nights then stop reading this review and go get a tin right now. This is a magical tobacco. I could wane on and on about the Oriental Forward tobaccos and the aroma. The creosote smell that I love and the luxurious depth of flavor that has a long finish. Yes I could carry on about how it will knock your Sox off but I will not. Greg Pease is a Master blender and his concoctions are a most of the times a masterpiece and Quiet Nights falls into the masterpiece category. hink it’s more convenient and gives a much more consistent flavor not only in a singular tin but from tin to tin. I only bring this up because at certain parts in the bowl the sourness of the perique is really heavy and at certain parts of the bowl it is the oriental forward type of blend I love. If you like Perique this is probably one of the best English blends you can find. If I could only smoke one blend for the rest of my life I would pick this over 99% of blends that I’ve tried. t I loves me my jazz, so I started looking at some of the blend names, just for the heck of it, to see if any were the same (or close to the same) as some of my favorite tracks. I found five, this is the first review of one of the finds.)
G. L. Pease Quiet Nights (song-Corcavada-Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars-Jobin/Getz is the preferred instrumental)
When I first opened the tin, I was surprised that the Red Virginia component (earthy, reminiscent of turned soil next to a woodline) came on first, not overwhelming, mind you, just eagerly to present. The Latakia then elbowed its way in, as Lats do. To my mind, the heady aroma of the Lat melded with the Virginia nicely. The Perique and Orientals wove themselves in like grace notes.
The slices break apart into nice shaggy strings; I've used several different packing schemes and they've all worked well. One side note...all my pipes are carefully broken in with a heel cake...and Quiet Nights performs beautifully, smoking down to the bottom, with no dottle.
Like the opening act, the taste and mouthfeel of the blend follow much the same pattern with this variation...
The Virginia and Latakia blend into a savory full-bodied taste with the Perique and Orientals adding piquant (and sparkly) notes.
For me, this is not just an evening-only blend...I could smoke this blend all day, just like I could listen to the song I've taken as the homage for this blend...

s blend is my favorite in the english family by far, and I have tried quite a few. They all are nice blends but are just not something that you could smoke all day long. They are a cold rainy day single bowl. That said when I cracked open this tin I knew it was different. The tin note was slightly softer than I expected. I wasnt overpowered by one of the tobacco's or another, it was a nice melding of all of them. I had to spend time picking out the different aroma's, it took some time to do so. After the first bowl I had to load up another it was that good, I needed to experience all the wonderful flavors, to try and taste all that was going on. This is a very complex tobacco with amazing flavors. This blend is, dare I say it, perfect. Of course It is perfect if this is the kind of blend you prefer. This will be in my rotation no doubt, it will be one of the primary daily's. This is the second blend I have found in my exploration in finding the perfect blends for me. Read Less

sture content. I didn't rub this out anymore than it already was. The Orientals and Virgina's help balance out the heavy dose of Latakia in this blend. Not as intense as Gaslight, which makes Quiet Nights less of a sipping tobacco and also less "filling" with the vitamin N. This will be my replacement for Dunhill's Nightcap. Read Less

This is a blend that often gets compared to Penzance (which is near impossible to get). This is one of my favorite English blends. I highly recommend. Really really good. Believe the hype (MHO).

ote, room note, retrohale, strength, and flavor; Quite Nights is just a beautiful tobacco. I can't say enough about Mr. Pease. He is a true master that takes the craft of blending tobacco to another level, a true artist. This blend is dark and smoky with a tartness balanced on a sweet structure of dark and red Virginias, and a touch of spicyness from the addition of Perique. It hits all the marks and it’s so smooth. I have been a longtime lover of Plum Pudding. It has been my favorite for quite awhile now. This blend by G. L. Pease has got me seriously questioning whether Plum Pudding is number one or number two. Quiet Nights is a bit sharper, which I actually enjoy quiet a bit and it also has a tangyness that Plum Pudding doesn’t. For the record, the hype is on point. Just as good as Penzance in my opinion, and much easier to get, for now at least. Read Less

sted slowly, it is complex and experienced smokers will enjoy it more I feel. There are just notes and tastes that are better deciphered by palates that are used to stronger English blends. But at the same time can still be enjoyed by an inexperienced smoker. This one is worth a try. Read Less

Quiet nights is a very mellow yet flavorful blend. It is one of the best I have tried to date. The smoke is plentiful, creamy and very smooth with tons of flavor. It has become my new evening blend.

I've been big on C&D Star of the East Flake recently and absolutely love it. I put this in the same realm and possibly just as good...maybe better? Either way, I could smoke this the rest of my life and be quite content

y balanced, lights easyliy and burns well. No drying is needed, perfect out of the tin. The Flakes are loosely pressed, no need to cut them. Very uncomplicated. Proves that everything Mr. Pease does with Latakia is going to be genius. Recommend it very much to those, that want to start the exploration of the Pease- tobacco- World. Not a bad blend, I gave it 4 stars only because it didn't do much for me as far as taste goes. Very well balanced and smooth but just no spark for me! I will for sure smoke up the tin I have but sadly this blend will not be going into my rotation.
