G. L. Pease: Barbary Coast 2oz

Product Number: 003-029-0007

The finest cube-cut Burley, chosen for its deep, nutty flavors, forms a robust foundation for this sophisticated blend. Rich, Red Virginia tobaccos are added for their subtle sweetness and complexity, while the unique spice of Perique provides added dimension. A delicate kiss of brandy polishes this blend to a perfect finish. G. L. Pease's Barbary Coast is delightfully satisfying, with hints of black walnut, dark chocolate, and dried fruits. The perfect "all-day" smoke!

Unique and tasty, but intense.

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
Funny that anyone could think of this as a light smoke. The brandy finish is really rich and lingers all day. It tastes like a Christmas pudding. I like it, and it's something I'd want to have around, but it is very specific.
Very Good Tobacco

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 8oz
Lots of big, full smoke from this tobacco. Very good burly tobacco. Burns very well and extremely cool. Don't believe other a regarding the amount of topings in other reviews, I don't believe them to be true. This does not have much brandy flavor,... Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
What a nice light and lovely little smoke! Reminds me of my first experience of Haddos Delight before I cleaned my pipes with peroxide. Then I tastes sweetness and spice with that blend, after cleaning I tasted sweetness spice, a bit of earthiness, I... Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
This blend, while revered by many aromatic smokers, is not one of my favorites but does offer a change of pace from my normal VA-Per or DT blends. It does require substantial drying time for my use. It doesn't leave an offensive ghost in a briar. T... Read More

This blend is just not my cup of tea. The brandy casing is just a bit much. I'm sure others love it.
Wonderful Mixture

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
Barbary Coast is a nearly perfect mixture, the Burley is pure and even burning as a foundation, the Virginias mix in marvelous harmony, adding depth and character to the blend, the Perique adds mid fruits and deeper flavors and the Brandy topping add... Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
I cannot think of a single reason to dislike this blend, although I will make the concession that the 8oz can is better humidified than the 2oz can but overall this is a very small complaint. As already mentioned this is a great blend for around the... Read More

I think the delicate kiss of brandy isn't working for me. I'll finish the tin, but I don't think this will be a repeat purchase.
Burley for sure

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
Walnuts, walnut shells... booze aroma is intense in a new tin, but doesn’t really overwhelm with flavor of the booze. Mostly a very nutty burley. Certainly an upgrade from say Prince Albert, if I smoke this too much it gets hard on the throat. But I ... Read More
This is a good burley blend

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
If you open the tin and compare it to a pouch of SWR, the basic cut is the same: chunky/ cub cut. The Barbary however, has a darker, richer look to it and it smokes that way. If you like burley blends it is certainly worth trying. This is one I do wi... Read More
Not your typical burley.

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
Recently I have fallen head over heels for burley blends. This one is completely unique in comparison to any other burley based blend I've had. The brandy topping smells like the same one used in Dreams of Kadath or Mad Fiddler Flake. It smells st... Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
Very enjoyable. I don't feel the same as some of the other reviews in that I don't feel the top note of Brandy is strong. To my taste buds its mild and enhances the blend nicely.
not for me

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
Nice Burleys but did not like the toppings. It reminds me very much of some of the old timer blends that my pipe smoking mentors preferred but I don't. This one will not go into my rotation, not sure I will even finish the tin.
Don't like the cube cut
July 02, 2018
Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
This one just isn't a success. The cube cut is very inconvenient for a guy who moves around. It falls out of the pipe every time I move. Never found a way to keep it from settling and expanding in the bottom of the bowl and becoming harsh about half... Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Barbary Coast 2oz
When I opened a tin a first impression was not very good. Brandy smell was quite strong. When smoked though it actually tasted very good. Nutty flavors are definitely dominating, but topped with sweetness. Usually I don’t like sweet tastes but this o... Read More
