Meridian, from G. L. Pease, is balanced, poised and sophisticated. Cyprus Latakia is layered with fine Virginia tobaccos and small leaf orientals, then pressed, sliced, and tumbled into ribbons. More savory than sweet, with classic structure, medium body, and captivating complexity. Meridian is the perfect companion for a mid-day stroll, or with the afternoon tea.
A pressed, coarse ribbon cut, Meridian is one of the star tobaccos in my rotation. Specifically, I often alternate this with the Seattle Pipe Club (SPC) Mississippi River Reserve. While they differ in their taste and packing qualities, they are simil... Read Morear in their balanced marriage of components that yield a nuanced complexity best enjoyed slowly with time for contemplation and enjoyment. I recommend shelving this blend for at least three months. A fresh tin is a bit too savory and tart, and time allows the tobacco to moderate, allowing the slightly sweet Virginias to play a greater supporting role. The Latakia and other Orientals are the real stars here, but they are blended to perfection. The tin aroma is earthy and woody with a hint of raisin and apple vinegar. I prefer not to rub this out and instead opt for an author-style bowl. This is blend for a larger bowl, both for ease of packing and to allow the piper to enjoy the full and varying flavors throughout the smoke. The early tartness and savory qualities of the Latakia and orientals give way gradually to a more sweet cream-like quality by mid-bowl. While this is a sister blend to Chelsea Morning (sharing the same Old London category and cut), the similarities are significant. Chelsea Morning is in my rotation up to mid-afternoon, but this blend is best enjoyed with a wee dram or a hearty stout or porter. It burns clean to the bottom of the bowl with no moisture or dottle. It is one of only a couple 5-star ratings in my rotation. I have never had a bad experience with this blend across several tins. It is perfection in a pipe. Read Less
I may be a little biased because this was the very first blend I ever tried. However everything works perfectly together to bring the smoker a lovely Latakia heavy English blend, perfect for everyday smoking.
This is a virginia/oriental blend with a subtle but noticeable latakia presence.

This is in a similar tumbled ribbon style to Chelsea Morning, but has slighty more Latakia and a hint of sour sweetness in the background. Easy to pack and light, and produces very nice volumes of enjoyable smoke.
This is a delicious smoke. Has deep virginia and a pinch of latakia. In addition there's a sweet/sour oriental in the middle that produces a very moreish combination. Packs and smokes easily, produces nice volumes of flavorsome smoke.
This bright and cherry tobacco has become my morning smoke. I really like the sweetness, which is not overpowering like some virginia tobaccos can be. The tin is even superior to Dunhill Medium (which is one of my all-time favorites) exuding leather notes with a 10-year-old Talisker Scotch smokiness tinged with sweet flora that is absolutely perfect, quite stunning, particularly on a crisp, fall day.

This was the first GLP blend I smoked, and I have to say I liked it very much. It was sweet and developed in complexity, but at the same time was a touch too mild for my taste.
