This was a blind purchase based on the reviews at TobaccoReviews.com. VERY good! The first thing I must say is that it does require some prep time. At the very least, you're going to need to cut it into some coins then rub it out. I cut 3 coins of... Read Moref, rubbed 1 out and left them out for about 30 minutes to dry. Probably could use a little more drying time for the coins you are going to smoke. At any rate, the first bowl was the rubbed out coin. On the first puff, you get a nice sweet whisky flavor which really was a nice change from my usual English blend rotation. It burns cool and it is quite relaxing. The nic hit will punch you in the teeth if you're not ready for it. Eat first and have a glass of water nearby. It does take some work keeping it lit and tamping it down, but that was probably because it was still a bit wet. Later, I folded one coin in and had the same wonderful smoke but it was even more difficult for me to keep lit. None of this is the tobacco's fault, just my inexperience with this tobacco. In summation, if you really are looking for something different that has a great flavor and a pretty good nic hit, this is the one you want. Ordering 4 oz next time. 5 stars! Twist type tobacco, you have to prepare it. There's nothing to it . I enjoy the whole tobacco prep thing, it's part of smoking a pipe. I like the full taste profile from this. It's a good, end of the day/night quality smoke ! I usually cut a few pieces off about the thickness of a nickel, rub it out, let it dry for a little bit, or sometimes not. Gawith & Hoggarth tobaccos are meant to be smoked either way, and they usually ship it a little moist. It's all up to ones taste. I've smoked them right out of the zip lock they arrived in, and I've also dried them at different lengths of time. I like to dry it for about 15 minutes. Everyone is different with this process and that's part of why pipe smoking is so entrancing. Read Less
It dried out nicely as it was literaly sopping wet when it arrived. When dried and smoked fresh it was tasty, smokey and the most bitey tobacco I've smoked to this day. this stuff is fun to slice up and smells really good when doing so .
Its hard to keep lite so maybe letting it stand after slicing would help. It is a lighter and tamper exercise for a rather harsh result.

If you are one who likes to “play” with your tobacco, by all means get this “Twist” form of tobacco, you can spend countless hours “Slicing, Dicing and Drying” this “Twist” tobacco before it is ready to smoke. I admit I am a lazy pipe smoker so I didn’t find this necessary extra preparation exercise to be of any value to heighten my pipe smoking enjoyment. You had better have a sizable ignition source on hand because you are going to need a lot of BTU’s to get this “Twist” tobacco to light. Once you achieve the first ignition you will need to have your best “Tamping Tool” at the ready to handle the endless re-packings and re-lights that this “Twist” form of tobacco requires. Perhaps you have detected that the “Twist” form of tobacco is not my “cup of tea”. Read Less
