Another good aromatic from Mac Barens 7 Seas line. This one is a tad less sweet than the Regular blend but has a fruity quality. Personally i like the regular better but this is definitely 2nd place. Smokes cool and dry, can do this all day as well.

so as this has become a fixture in my general rotation. I've even dedicated a pipe to it. Great burning qualities, very easy to get lit, and a very good tobacco flavor that is wonderfully complimented with what ever magic topping that MacBaren uses here. It smells great and taste great. It has even been my experience that I can start a bowl the night before and pick it right back up the next evening and it still smokes wonderfully. I simply adore this tobacco. Read Less

Pleasant initial impression: black and gold, ribbon cut, moist and slightly aromatic with the slightest hint of fruit (peach, apricot, perhaps?) and a suggestion of rum. I found it easy to load into the bowl of my squat bulldog and in short order I packed, lit, and began the first bowl. The bowl lit fast, easy, and burned well. With just a bit of tamp and draw, I had no problem keeping the blend lit and never needed to relight.
It was a cool burn. My bulldog has a smooth finish and the bowl warmed comfortably in my hand. Some of the aromatics Iโve smoked burn hot enough to warrant the choice of a bowl with a rougher finish in order to dissipate more heat. Not the case here at all. Cool burn, no residue travelling up the bit and little to no bite on the tongue.
The aroma was pleasant enough to draw attention and favorable comments from some non-smokers around us. I made a careful note that this is one I can smoke in the house.
Flavor was delicate and consistent, all the way to the bottom of the bowl which, at the end, yielded clean ash and a tiny black plug. There was no unpleasant aftertaste as I slid a pipe cleaner into my trusty bulldog.
My club-mates thought the mixture a bit too moist out of the can and each had to relight a few times to keep their bowls going, but we all agreed the MacBaren 7 Seas Royal Blend was a fine smoke.

I am a rookie to the pipe smoking world my palate leans towards the sweeter aromatic smokes. I find that most heavier English blends are a punch in the face. Plus they can wind up being a real one once my wife smells anything but my Royal. Plus, not only does my wife love the smell she calls "vanilla wafer", no one has complained to me about the room note. In fact a few friends of mine who chew tobacco have even tasted my Royal and loved it! If you are new to the pipe, give a try. If you do not like it send the rest to me. Read Less

and keep coming back to theirs. I purchased a 1oz bulk of Mac Baren 7 Seas Royal and I have to say it's fantastic! The smell out of the bag is great--a little sweet smell with some hints of chocolate or butter-rum in addition to the smell of the virginias and the cavendish. Just a well rounded smell. The char light was great; a semi-sweet taste that tasted just like the smell. As I continued to smoke it, no bitter after taste, no tongue bite, and every now and again, a really nice sample of that buttery-rum. Just an all around great smoke! Read Less

In the beginning, i heard from other smokers itโs little but having tongue bite. I tried it lately, itโs smooth and mild. You may try and nudge yourself. Recommended for beginners and intermediate smokers.

This tobacco blend has a great aroma, and I find myself inhaling the scent from a new package a lot when I have it around. Flavourful, but not overpowering, with a nice room note, and nice smokability.
