An impeccably structured blend, Savinelli's Brunello Flake features a foundation of sweet, tangy Virginias and cool burning Burleys. A dash of Macedonian leaf is added to round out the mixture and add a hint of the exotic. The different leafs are then aged as one, in order to marry and harmonize flavor, prior to being pressed into a tantalizing flake.
I love this blend. Cool, uncompromising, and straightforward. If you are a Virginia lover and you haven't tried this, you have a treat in store. I just recently got a hold of a tin and it's an impressive smoke to say the least. I got this tin for free with the purchase of a Savinelli Pipe. I only say that because I usually like things more if I had to pay hard earned money for them, so being "free" doesn't endere it to me at all.
The tin note is absolutely the s... Read Moretar - reminds me of strawberry fruit leather, but not in an aromatic way. That sounds like a contradiction, but my very uneducated guess is that it is the chemistry of exotic tobaccos and the processing that produces the aroma, not a strawberry topping. Who knows, either way it's sublime.
Presentation in the tin is very handsome in the classic MacBarren gold foil wrapper and flakes cut perfectly on an OCD level.
The flakes rub out with surprisingly little effort, moisture is on the dry side of perfect, ready to pack right away. Takes a char and lights quickly, and stays lit with little effort.
The smoke is mild to medium in strength, medium body, and "fluffy" on the palate. The smoke is quite sweet in the way that the very best Virginas hope to be, and that tin note carries through in residual sweetness, but not in cloying flavor. Overall a really great blend for a Virginia smoker looking for complexity.
Finally, I have read other reviews that prefer this in a certian pipe. I am not experienced enough to make a judgement, but for reference, I am smoking it in the Savinelli 320 KS that earned the tin. Huge bowl that is almost as wide as it is deep.
I will be buying several more tins. Great stuff! Read Less

This aroma works staggeringly well with this blend, reinforcing the Virginias and Oriental. The flavor is complex and natural — sweet with a touch of tartness and a bit of spice. This is a very good, full flavored flake tobacco with complexity, but not a lot of surprises. Maybe it's responsible for the occasional spiciness that drifts through the bowl. Fairly complex, rich and smooth, burns cool - no bite no matter how hard I pulled on it. Nicotine level is fairly mild. The first tin I received was 2 months out from the tin date. The price per ounce is just a $1 more than Orlik Golden Sliced, and I think this blend has a richer, smoother, fuller, complex, and balanced flavor which makes it a good value for a daily smoke - highly recommended.
Update: After going through two more tins this has become a staple in my rotation. I've noticed a flavor that drifts in and out that reminds me of oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and raisins - go figure. Another Update - I just opened a tin of this that was aged 3 1/2 years.
