s of cocoa (read: hints. it is not an aro. by any stretch). It has that classic Burley blend flavor like Carter Hall—without going flat halfway through the pipe. Additionally, there's a good deal of Virigina flavor in the mix. It's got a flavor strength that's halfway between mild and strong, so it'll likely appeal to many pipers. It's nicotine strength is about 4/10; not strong at all but not "decaf" (de-nic?). This ¼" cut cubes are extremely compacted—almost like mini plugs! If you don't rub 'em out and simply dry them, a small pile in your pipe will provide a seemingly endless smoke, which requires almost no tamping (a huge bonus for travel smoking). The super-compacted cube cut is the only thing that will likely throw some pipers off—it takes a while to dry out if you don't rub the cubes out a bit. Once you figure out how you like to prep it, it's one heck of a good puff (yes, it's one of those). The reward outweighs any initial hassles. As with many tobaccos that require prep or significant drying time, how you choose to prep it will also change the flavor (it's not wet, just average moisture in very compacted cubes). This is an excellent blend for on the go smoking, given its long burn time, and it doesn't dry out crumble to dust easily either. It has a great pouch note, and that classic Burley room note to boot. Be sure to use a pipe cleaner to block the airway when packing. Nice naturally sweet and nutty flavor. The virginia and burley blend perfectly together. Hints of cocoa and spice from time to time. If you are a virginia smoker that wants something slightly different with a little more body this is it. If you are a burley smoker that wants something with a little more sweetness but still smooth this is it. If you have tried burley blends and they are a little to strong or harsh give this a try. cocoa, mild cigar and coffee develop throughout the bowl. If packed loose it can be a light smoke, or if packed more firm, a subtle but wonderful medium bodied edge comes out in the blend. This is like a dark nutty version of Superior Navy Flake. I love the Cavindish note in the retrohale. It has a faint spice if pushed hard. The nic hit is mild in a medium bowl. Rubbing out the cubes makes it easier to light. In the pipe it smolders but burns pretty steady. Lots of tamping and fusing will keep you lit and happily puffing. Read Less

heless, it and the citrus sublimate the tobacco. The PH is off a little, as most citrus/anisette topped tobacco is, and so it will nip at the tongue a little. Sipped slow this reveals a bit of nuttiness and hay, but that damn citric acid ruins it. Cornell and Diehl cube cut is where you'll find a smooth, earthy, nutty, molasses burley. If I had to equate the two to something, PS41 is a bright, acidic, sweet lemon square, whereas Cornell & Diehl is a soft, smoothly balanced molasses/brown sugar cookie. It's not a bad mixture, and the cube cut is always a joy to load (just scoop), it's just not something I'd want to have around and hanker for. Smokes moist and hot. Sip it for best flavor and keep a pipe cleaner handy. Continuous relights are necessary. Pleasant room note. This reminds me of Mac Baren mixtures for some reason. Nic is 2 out of 5. Read Less

You can literally scoop your pipe in the bag to pack it and begin smoking. Burns like a broken flake yet packs like a shag. try again. It tastes ok, especially at the beginning of the bowl but by the 75% done mark the flavors go away until about 90% finished. Very mild with touches of sweetness from time to time. The topping smell REALLY showed up after storing whereas I couldn't smell it at all to begin with. After aging in the jar it smells lightly sweet with a touch of fruit like citrus. Smoking it you only get that citrus flavor sense maybe twice a bowl. I've tried it as cubes and rubbing it out and either way burns slow, nothing fancy, decent taste when you get some, and cool burning. I will not be ordering again since there are better Burleys out there and this is too much work for what you get. I add it now to my aromatics since it allows for a longer smoke. Pipe on! Read Less

PS Cube Cut fits in very nicely for me. It is milder than the three mentioned, but a very set-it-and-forget-it smoke. The pouch aroma did translate into the smoke; mildly, never cloying, and pleasant. Reminded me of the original Edgeworth Ready Rubbed, which was a cube cut. Smoked clean and dry to the heel of the pipe, maintaining consistency of burn and flavor without moisture or dottle. No bite to speak of. Just a mild tongue tingle with heavy puffing and the nicotine presence, for me, was mild. This is in league with the best of the Codger Burleys - actually better in my opinion. n't burn for 90 minutes. Nice and smooth, mostly the burley but with enough Virginia to give it a little citrus note. Really a wonderful smoke. The bowl got kind of hot but seemed to cool off quickly. Big clouds of smoke, no real hint of any topping, just a good, honest and tasty bowl of tobacco. I am really growing to love the PS blends! English Luxury, Luxury Bullseye Flake and Natural Dutch Cavendish are three of my other go-to smokes. basically minced tobacco, and it is an uncommon cut to find these days. As noted in other reviews, just gravity-feed the cubes into your bowl and very gently tamp. Leave some space at the top of the bowl as the cubes expand considerably upon lighting. This tobacco seemed at about the right moisture level and it was easy to light and to keep lit. It burned nicely to the bottom of the bowl. There was lots of nutty burley flavor with the Virginia providing a touch of sweetness. This blend is fairly similar to Carter Hall, Prince Albert, Chatham Manor and the like, except it seem a bit more robust to me. Lots of burley flavor, not too much nicotine, and still mild enough to be an all day smoke for me. And all at a very good price. If you like burley-based blends, you’ll like this. so it was ready to fire up! After breakfast, coffee and that bowl followed me to the patio. It was a partly cloudy Oregon morning. I had read the reviews and then looked at the cost, and they just didnt add up. The tobacco is very affordable and has great reviews. This tobacco has a wonderful natural sweet tobacco taste. It does take some lights, but that cut tends to need a few. Medium to above medium in the nicotine. Good amount of smoke. I enjoy smokey tobaccos and not the wispy smoke. For anyone that enjoys Peter Stok Navy Flake, Luxury Bullseye, etc. This tobacco will satisfy. The price is a bonus. Ease of packing and flavor made this a winner! Highly recommended! Read Less

NDC was easy to load and light. The overall smoking characteristics were outstanding and similar to those already mentioned. This one, for me, was more Virginia forward (but not hay like) and had more of a spiciness/sharpness while exhaling through the nose. A very naturally tasting smoke and very appealing. A bit more tingling on the tongue than the other two but no bite to speak of. Smoked dry to the heel, without moisture or dottle, and maintained a very nice, pure tobacco taste throughout the smoke. Solid smoking experience and for me but would have preferred a more, fuller tasting Burley in the mix. A good set it and forget it type of smoke and along with the other three, very affordable. with the cube cut is it will fall out of the pipe easily. If you aren't careful you'll have stray burning coals on the floor and your shirt and lap. Be careful to keep the cubes in the bowl and enjoy the ease that comes with using this type of cut. A good choice to blend with another cut to provide a bit more airflow. Read Less
