Tasting Notes: Peterson University Flake
Peterson's University Flake is one of those blends that has been around for a while and has amassed quite the loyal following. I've smoked it before and enjoyed it, but for whatever reason it's been quite a while since I popped a tin. My tastes have changed and shifted over the last few years and I've been appreciating Burley and Virginia/Burley blends much more.

The first thing you'll notice when cracking a tin of University Flake is the sweet and fruity aroma. Don't let this fool you; the addition of the flavoring (which most describe as 'plum'), only highlights the blend of Virginia and Burley. This flake is full of flavor and boasts enough strength to satisfy those looking for a decent hit, without being so strong that it knocks those who aren't to the floor. It's nutty, bold, and rustic, with just enough of the semi-sweet fruit notes popping up throughout the smoke to keep one's attention. It's easy to see why University Flake has so many fans, and if you've never tried it then I highly suggest giving it a go, regardless of your usual preferences. I'd bet that you'll be pleasantly surprised.
