Around The Burl: Radice

In his latest episode of Around The Burl, Shane recounts his latest trip to the Radice workshop, including a look at the newer faux-bamboo Rind Pures, and two very special gourd and briar Calabashes.

Are you a fan of the Radices' work? Loving their colourful new stems and accents? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

    • I've always thought Radice's pipes were a great value for their price. I also have owned a few. Is there such a thing briar that is too well dried? I swear I've seen a lot of chamber carbonizing in the estates and I know I did it with a Rind Pure just a bit. I'm wondering if they would benefit from bowl coating ALL tveir pipes. Their briar is super light colored and feels very light typically. But, sometimes it seems that dense briar can also be sturdy to the flame and heat. Love, love, love their acrylic stems and buttons. They make a heck of a saddle stem.

    • After drooling over them for about a year, I finally just bought my first Radice. It was hard to choose, but I went with a Rind Rhodesian with a very non-traditional white acrylic stem. The quality and craftsmanship put into this pipe is immediately recognizable. Seeing this video and reading your articles about the Radice family just makes me love my new pipe even more. It's so cool to know that my pipe was there in that very workshop! Thanks for bringing this awesome video to YouTube!

    • I have three Radices and my fourth on the the way . I have officially become a Radice fanatic! They are by far my favorite pipes. I hope you guys get some more Hawkbills especially the ones with more of a bend in the shank , like the ruby colored one in the video. Thanks for the video I watch it from time to time and enjoy it more each time

    • @Joe Unfortunately, Radice doesn't offer replacement stems. However, you may be able to get one made for you by a pipe repair service! I will email you with more information, just in case you are interested.
