Several weeks ago we had the pleasure of hosting Smio Satou here at Smokingpipes headquarters. While good food and tobacco were all on the menu during Satou's trip, we also had the opportunity to sit down with the Japanese master and ask him a series of questions about everything from his unique tsuishu accents to some of his earlier influences. Smio is not only one of the most impressive carvers in today's market, but he's also quite genuine and amiable. Wonderful to see Mr. Satou's elegant use of urushi on his pipes. Such a nice combination of Western and Eastern technique and style.
