When Antonín Dvořák left the United States to return home in 1855, one needn't have to talked to the man in order to understand the profound changes that had occurred during his visit. All one had to do was listen to the music that he penned in 1893, referred to by many today as The New World Symphony. While a good piece of art can (nay, should) serve as something of a Rorschach test, and a thousand viewers will walk away with an equal number of impressions, I heard Dvořák's 9th when I first saw this Doherty composition. Bucolic, emphasizing intuitive, natural hues, and presenting a barely tamed spirit, this print seems born to open new doors, maybe even "New Worlds".
