About This Pipe
Picture it - 1932:
The 3rd Winter Olympic games close at Lake Placid, New York; 1st U.S. radio broadcast from a moving train (Belle Baker WABC from MD); Al Capone, convict of income tax evasion, enters Atlanta Penitentiary; and this pipe was born.
Bear and I like to remember (look up) some of the world history from a patent year, though try to avoid the grim. Whenever I pick up an older piece, such as this 1932 patent, I immediately try to think about what was going on at that time. Was the customer in a fancy car? What was the tobacco shop like? What music was on the radio? These are some of the things that make old things interesting to me, and hopefully to you. There is more history in this piece than Dunhill. It's full of stories from the era.
