About This Pipe

The year is 1938: Howard Hughes sets a new record by completing a 91 hour airplane flight around the world; DuPont announces a name for its new synthetic yarn: "nylon"; MGM releases a film version of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol starring Reginald Owen; and this pipe was made.

Highlights of a bygone era attest to the age of this pipe. Things that seem commonplace today were just being discovered and tremendously huge events in history had not even taken place yet. This particular Christmas movie is my favorite version of the story, so that's a selfish plug, but 'tis the season of yule. Each of these things have aged, and some are no longer with us. This lovely patent prince by Dunhill is the most intact (since it doesn't come out of dvd) and is showing wisdom in it's age. A side splash of grain on the bowl and obsidian-colored stem still play in harmony for a place in your collection.
