About This Pipe
This Castello Old Antiquari strikes an unusual balance, being visually more centered on the long shank than most compositions, due both to its own thickness and the proportionally slim dublin bowl. This might not have worked in a completely straight configuration, but through the gentle downward bend of the bit, not only is the bowl accented as a converse upward motion, but also leads one to naturally perceive the pipe with a forward tilt, so that the heaviness of the stem serves more to imply a momentum traveling to the bowl itself.
