Rolando Negoita is one of the more interesting artisan's active today. Originally entering into pipemaking back in his homeland of Romania during a time when tobacco had to be smuggled, and briar was not available at all, he fashioned all of his earliest pieces from any other suitable hardwood that was available. Today, though, he lives in America, and now the creative energies that persevered through his youth now enjoy working quality briar into some of the most beautiful shapes to found. Case in point, this shapely, yet very handy and dynamic hybrid of Cutty and Danish Egg, finished in the deep and tantalizing texture of his signature "Walnut" rustication.
