About This Pipe
From the beautifully shaped and cheeky bowl, to the gently arched, languidly curved shank, down to the perfectly executed tapered stem and button, it's pipes like this on which Tom Eltang has built his reputation for extraordinary pipe making; the whole composition is just wonderfully done. The grain here is very nice, also, perfectly accentuated by Tom's remarkable golden contrast staining technique. The grain runs around the bowl, and down the sides of the shank, terminating into intricate bird's eye on the base of the piece. This is an lovely composition in every respect.
