While expressing an obvious Danish style of flowing, elegant line, as well as a more Japanese strength of organic asymmetry, this Gabriele dal Fiume design does also express a more Italian breadth in profile, though the cross-section remains relatively slim, as well as quite wasp-waisted at the transition. The play of the grain is, fittingly, just as novel, accentuating a gorgeous will-o-wisp pattern of birdseye and 3/4 grain along the left flank and underside, while the right side goes for a more traditional showing of copious flame grain.
