I'm not positive that 'Brandy' most accurately describes this pipe by Peter Heding. I'm also not positive that I can pull out my handy-dandy list of shape titles and come up with something better. Such is often the case with hand made pipes of artisan nature. What I can say for certain is that this piece is a superb example of the kind of beautifully composed work Peter Heding produces astonishingly regularly. While its proportionally robust, it's also compact, free of excess visual weight, crisp in line and clear in its transitions. It feels quite welcome in the hand and, I wager, will look incredible in the jaw. And not surprisingly, given its grade, the pipe is teaming with generous splashes of straight grain and flame grain alike, as well as plenty of dark, mottled bird's eye across it's belly.
