Freehand it may be, but this Heding "Lion" design is still a very robust number, with a compact and powerful sense of proportions - proportions that are all more strongly emphasized by the rich flame grain of the briar itself, brought out in a darkly beautiful black-and-walnut contrast stain. The horn mount he's employed is nothing to sneeze at either, presenting a surprisingly consistent color and texture throughout, despite its own substantial size.
