About This Pipe Tobacco

A thick-slices broken flake in the Scottish tradition. Ripe Red Virginia tobaccos are combined with a generous measure of fine Louisiana Perique, and then pressed to marry the components and deepen the flavors. The cakes are sliced and gently broken before tinning. Fillmore presents an elegant sweetness and delightful piquancy, enhanced by a creamy richness that develops throughout the bowl. Sit back and enjoy a lovely, leisurely smoke!

Wow! Haven't had much of this, yet, but it sure is tasty. You'll find it difficult to stop puffing on it. But puff/sip slowly, if you really want to taste it and to get the most from it. Mine is dated May 6, '25...so it's eleven months aged. It begins on the very mellow side, a tiny bit sweet, but does become a bit spicy past the halfway mark. I imagine the spiciness will mellow with more time. Had I looked at the ratings, I would've likely not opened this yet. As I typically open lower rated blends of those I have but I've not yet tried; before cracking open the "good (according to ratings) stuff." So I will likely put this back into storage and open Montgomery...or Navigator. Those two being the lowest rated of the nine G.L. Pease blends I have and have never tried. But know this blend is right up there near the top; for blends you must, or should, have on hand. Because you will likely want a bowl or more of this on the daily....Read More

Caveat! This tin is from 2008. I purchased it from Smoking Pipes dated 2009. Cracked the tin a few months ago. Let it sit a bit. Humidity was perfect. This is my first relaxing session with this blend at this age. The red Virginia is really shows forth . Perique has a perfect sweetness to it. At my age perique can be a bit overpowering for me. My taste has changed since then.
Filmore! At 18 years , my have we grown up ! This smokes with a beautiful rich, plum, cherry sweetness. The depth is amazing. Definitely enjoy the Reds Virginia . I would recommend this to anyone who would like to try. I been getting 3 tins and smoke one now , smoke one in two years in five years. The difference can be quite interesting....Read More

As somebody who enjoys the fermentation of certain cigars, this is definitely a comfort zone. Its not at the top of my list, but currently #2 on that list, out of about 9 that I've tried. Crazy thing is, its firmly in the neighborhood of what's got me currently satisfied and not wanting to expand out much further at the moment. I picked up a tin a month or so ago based upon the great reviews. The tin note was great, raisins, dark bread, chocolate cake, and that Perique funk. Upon smoking, I found this blend to be so spicy and a little too intense for my tastes. Now, it was a younger tin, so maybe just needs some age on it. Will jar and return in a year....Read More

Its taken me a while to understand virinias. But I think im finally there. If you smoke this slow and low, it will reward you!

I finally understand what people are talking about when they talk about "bready notes" and boy does this have them. It tastes like a nice slice of fresh sourdough, with a good peppering on it! Absolutely delicious. This is the first vaper I tried that made me understand why anyone smokes VaPers. It is absolutely delicious if you take your time with it. Highly recommend.

The perique is there in just the right amount, in my opinion. The virginia isnt sweet, but nice and bready. If that sounds like something you would enjoy, this is your stuff.
