Mild tobacco with light medium strength added flavouring. The topping taste like dried fruit with chocolate and vanilla, I get a raisin taste from the fruity part of it. The added flavours do not overpower the smoke and it is best to smoke this in an unfiltered pipe as the taste is mild and with a filter it taste like slightly sweet tasting smoke that you won't get much flavour out of. With an unfiltered smoke you get a mild tobacco taste with a slightly stronger than light topping. Must smoke slowly or you will get some bite from it....Read More

This is what I imagined Captain Black would be like when I started pipe smoking. I was wrong, it was horrible. After avoiding blends similar to CB for12 years I decided to take a chance on a tin of this stuff and it is terrific. I wish I had found it sooner! My first use of the Mac Baren 7 Seas Regular Blend pipe tobacco was from a bought 50g pouch from a well known Montreal tobacconist, but maybe for its rarity as a regular over the counter 'drugstore store' pipe tobacco and the local low popularity of pipe smoking, the pouch offered a very dry tobacco on its opening. After re-hydrating the stuff, the following bowls pleased my palate. Very common as the Captain Black Regular Blend, this product offers a chocolatey aroma and a similar smoke without Virginia loose leaf content.
