Originally from Pikeville, Ky., Phill moved to Louisville early in life. Phill is the middle child between sisters, the FUNcle of a niece and nephew, and the favorite son of their parents, they humbly admit. They also have a cat named Nelly Fur-tado. Phill likes writing funny words and phrases about pipes, tobacco, and cigars while smoking. A University of Kentucky graduate, they received a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Strategic Communication with a minor in Technical Writing and Rhetoric Studies and a certification in Wine, Brewing, and Distillation Science. Their passion for living life and raising awareness about mental health and sexual assault prevention truly speaks to their principled character, bringing skills of creativity and a deep compassion for other people to the table. Their writing is influenced by Kurt Vonnegut and Hunter S. Thompson, as well as our very own Chuck Stanion in a number of ways due to their distinctive abilities to mix humor with real emotions.
Outside of working hours, Phill prides themself on being a content creator, occasional designer, a photographer, an amateur home cook and baker, and lifter of somewhat heavy things. Some fun facts about Phill include that they’re a former radio DJ for 88.1 WRFl, Lexington, where they hosted three different shows and filled-in for countless others. A few of their personal favorites include the Boston Bruins and traveling to Montreal (it haunts their dreams with food, booze, artists, live music, and locals). As for their favorite books and their favorite movie, they enjoy Deadeye Dick, the Green Rider series, and Evil Dead 2. They listen to all sorts of music, but find themself always in a liquid drum and bass mood. They live by the wise saying, “Fortune favors the bold.”
